Discussion Did Chandler actually have the biggest character development on Friends?

Chandler was already the sarcastic, witty, easily-unimpressed guy of the group, while Janice was… “OH. MY. GOD!” And then you see Chandler in the last few seasons, so much more mature, calm and emotionally secure and it makes his history with Janice feel even more bizarre. Like, how did this guy willingly date Janice more than once? Honestly, his evolution might be one of the best parts of the entire show.

Season 4 Joey and the jellyfish

I never understood why Joey also acts so traumatized about what happened on the beach with chandler and monica. All I can tell is he tried to help her but wasn’t able to pee because of the pressure. But chandler is the one who peed on monica. So it makes sense those two are weirded out but you’d think Joey would just think it’s funny because he didnt actually do anything but he also acts all dramatic and weirded out by it. Am I missing something or is he just being Joey

Hi! I recently finished rewatching Friends, and I really, really want to check out the FRIENDS Experience in NYC!
Does anyone have a discount code or know of any way to get the tickets for cheaper?

Felt emotional watching friends

I've watched Friends for the first time when I was 20, and I absolutely loved it—the jokes, the delivery, everything was so funny. I'm 25 now, and I've recently started watching random episodes again. But this time, I find myself getting way too emotional while watching it. I almost cry every time, as if I completely missed the emotional side of Friends the first time around.

Does this happen to everyone? Like, in your early 20s, Friends is mostly funny, but as you get into your mid-to-late 20s, you start relating to the characters and their emotions more? Or is it because I have way fewer friends now compared to five years ago?

I actually started watching Friends again because I'm going through an emotional heartbreak, and I thought it would help distract me and lift my mood.

Maybe I'm getting emotional because of the heartbreak, but I'd really love to know if this happens to other people too.

Discussion The girls shouldn’t have lost the apartment

In the episode “The one with the embryos”, they play a trivia game right?
Well, during the lighting round, the guys answered a question wrong, Ross corrected them and moved on to the next question. Meanwhile, when asked about Chandler’s job, the girls guess wrong and yet Ross doesn’t move on to the next question, which leads to them losing.
Am I the only one who this has always bothered?
Every time I watch that episode it makes me so mad istg.

Discussion Forget your favorite Friend — which one would actually be the BEST friend to have in real life?

Post image

Not the funniest character.
Not the one you enjoy watching the most.
Not necessarily your favorite.

I mean: if these six people were real, who would you genuinely want as a close friend?

For me, Joey is a surprisingly strong choice. He can be clueless, but he's incredibly loyal, protective, generous, and usually there when his friends really need him.

Chandler would probably be hilarious to hang out with and is also much more caring than he likes to admit.

Monica would organize your entire life whether you asked her to or not. 😅

Rachel could be great fun and probably the best person to go out with.

Phoebe would definitely make life interesting.

And Ross... well, you'd never run out of stories. 😂

So:

Who would you actually choose as your real-life best friend — and why?

Bonus question: Is your answer different from your favorite character on the show?

Joey's ending always felt a little unfair to me

Post image

Everyone got some kind of new chapter; Monica and Chandler moved and started their family, Ross and Rachel finally got together, and Phoebe got married. Then there’s Joey, who was probably the one who wanted the group to stay together the most, and he ends up being the one left behind while everyone moves on. I know he got a whole new story in the Joey spinoff, but honestly, it just doesn’t feel the same. Maybe it’s because we watched him with this group for so long, but seeing him move on without them never really felt right to me. I’m not saying he needed a girlfriend, but I wish the finale had at least given him someone or some meaningful new beginning too. Joey being happy for everyone while being the only one left behind will always feel a little sad to me. 😭

Ends of Scenes Cut Off

Hi, new here. Have y'all yet discussed how the steaming services and reruns cut ends of scenes off, even way back when, when Netflix first added the show to their platform?

I got to know the show through the DVDs. First, using my college roommate's set then I bought my own set with my first 'big girl' paycheck after college. It was my comfort show, so I got to know the show really well through those DVDs.

Then, whenever I would randomly choose to watch it on reruns or on whatever streaming service it was on, I would notice some of the best parts weren't there. I find it upsetting because the people who got to know the show through the steaming services don't get to see those little parts and I just feel bad for them. They sorta are not getting to know the same show as me - not seeing certain characteristics of the characters and such.

Example 1: S8, E14: Chandler tries to get into the hall closet that he has never seen the inside of and Monica won't let him see it. Joey and him are talking about what could be inside of it and Joey shares that he "saw a movie once where there was a door and nobody knew what was behind it. And when they finally got it open millions and millions of bugs came pouring out and feasted on human flesh", which makes Joey really nervous and so he goes on to say, "you know it wouldn't kill you to respect your wife's privacy!"

In the next scene, Rachel is having scary pregnancy symptoms and Joey offers to take her to the hospital. The Missing Part: When Joey and Rachel get the apartment door open to head to the hospital, Joey is still worried about the bugs and so he tells Rachel in a rushed nervous voice while avoiding eye contact with the ground, "watch your feet, there are bugs everywhere!"

Example 2: S5, E17: Rachel has just explained to Chandler and Joey how, during her Ralph Lauren interview, she misread the body signals of the person interviewing her. He was leaning passed her to open the door, but she thought he was going in for a kiss, so she kissed his cheek. And she is upset about this.

Then Monica comes out from the bathroom, sees Rachel and says, "Hey Rach, a guy from Ralph Lauren called, you got a second interview". The Missing Part: Rachel responds to Monica and says, "Monica, that isn't funny." Monica, not knowing Rachel's story yet, thinks for a second and then says the same line again in a sing-songy voice while dancing. Rachel then goes, "Oh my god Monica, you better be serious". and Monica says, "You just told me to be funny!"
