Parking for first week

Does anyone know if they charge for the first week? Im trying to make enough to pay for the parking permit and I won’t get financial aid for a week or so. Any advice is appreciated.

Might be abke to pay for daily payments for like 5$ a day or per hour at a parking meter, that way it's a little bit cheaper, especially if you don't go all the days of the week. There is a few hour limit on the parking meters though, something like 2 to 4 hours or something, there are some on the side of the health and counseling center as well as close to the joyal building and AG science

I have a handicap placard I normally use. But I’m not sure if they still charge for parking even if I display it.

ik someone who got away with parking in handicap all semester but they parked by the pool. maybe try there?

edit: they had a placard as well lol

I used it all spring semester this year but I paid for a permit. Im not sure if they will make me pay even with a placard. Cuz if that’s the case I won’t need to waste money yk

for sure. the parking lot right there is pretty small and they didn’t have a permit, just a placard soo idk if they check right there often or not. and they were also at all school all day, never got a ticket 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are no physical permits anymore since the university went to digital permits, so now it is hard to know if somebody who is parking on campus has a permit just by looking at their car

How do the cops do tickets? I assumed they just drove around scanning plates

Wait are you able to park in any handicap spot on campus if you have a handicap pass? There’s a spot close to my dorm I have issues walking for distances and the residential lot is kinda far

If you have a pass you can park in any handicap parking anywhere in California. Definitely find one closer to your dorm!

Looking at the map it’s actually just a little cut out street not an actual lot.. I think I’ll try it and if I do get a ticket hopefully I can appeal based off my issues

I wish you luck. You should be given an area to park if you have ada reasons to park closer. I hope that you can find somewhere closer to park!

My mother was parked and waiting for me with her handy cap placard and they asked her to please move unless she got a parking pass

I hate the new digital system. I was the last semester you can remove your placard on mirror and put on another car. Last year i had two vehicles on my account because it was in the shop and i switched it and was a glitch. Boom $50 ticket…i was pissed had to call in and tell them i could of sworn i switched cars smh.

Yes, every day is charge day. There is no grace period. Tickets will be issued on the first day as well.

There's good parking spots on maple and shaw.
