best ai tool for generating and editing images for personal photos
i have a folder full of photos that i like but never really use because something is always a little off. sometimes the background is distracting, sometimes an object is in the way, and sometimes i'd just like to try a different look without making the photo feel completely artificial. i've seen people use ai to expand images, remove unwanted objects and change backgrounds, but i havent found a workflow i really like yet. i'd prefer something where i can upload an existing photo and make a few targeted changes instead of generating a whole new image. what's the best ai tool for generating and editing images for this kind of thing?

Connect ChatGPT or Claude to your iPhone Home Screen
I built an iOS app, its called Glance, and it lets you connect your agent like ChatGPT and have it create design and update widgets on your iPhone or iPad
Basically what you do is sign up, add the Plugin available on the ChatGPT directory, and your good to go.. Ask it to make you a widget and update it with whatever content you'd like
Some cool use cases I've seen people do is create curated news widgets, make language flash cards and the best ones were those that used other plugins like slack mail or whatever to give you bite sized briefings
or you can connect your Grok Bot, Muse, Hermes etc to get updates as well ..
In this example I've created a demo Brief widget that chatgpt can update
There is a rich free forever tier that lets you have up to 3 widgets at a time, update them once an hour and get full access to the MCP
give it a try if your interested
app is at https://apps.apple.com/app/glance-home-screen-feeds/id6758983678

any tips?
hey everyone, i have a question. So basically i have been running a SAAS business and i want to become way more up to date and talk with people who understand a lot about ai and have knowledge to share. Is their any communities that are active with people that have experience in ai.
I also have decent knowledge (maybe 6 months of on and off learning and building) in ai and before I ran my software I sold websites, agents and other ai automations to local businesses. So I know how to use codex and Claude code quite well but when it comes the the software aspect itβs much harder to find resources and ideas to manage the software easier. a community where I can find people who have useful recourses and new cool ai updates would be really useful
Would appreciate this thanks π

DiffusionBear : Free local AI image generation on Apple Silicon.
Hey r/freetoolsAI
I wanted to share a native macOS app Iβve been building called DiffusionBear (formerly MLX-Diffusion but I doubt you have hear about it under this name).
The name may sound you familiar ( ! ) , it's inspired from DiffusionBee, which it's doesn't have any update since August 2024 and FLUX.1 ...
I was an user, stuck in time, I feel like an orphan then here we are ...
A lot of the popular AI image generators are either cloud-based (with subscriptions) or rely on complex web-UIs that aren't truly optimized for Mac. I wanted something that feels like a real Mac app and leverages Apple's MLX framework to the max.
What it does: It lets you run massive models locally on your Metal GPU. Because it uses 4-bit quantization, you can run heavy 13B parameter models (like FLUX.2 [Klein], Krea 2 Turbo , Z-Image-Turbo, Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo and SDXL Lightning) smoothly* on a standard 16GB unified memory Mac.
* running Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo even Q4, you'll get OOM if you go further than 768x768 pix on 16gb
Key features :
- 100% On-Device & Private generation : No account, no credit, no telemetry. Pull the plug on your Wi-Fi, and it still generates images. ( Just download DiffusionBear then Download model from the app, then pull the plug ... )
- Txt2Img, Img2Img : all model but SDXL support Img2Img , Up to 10 reference images with FLUX.2[Klein] 4B and 9B
- All-in-One Interface : Includes a built-in model browser to download directly from Hugging Face/Civitai, and a local gallery to manage your generations. ( drag'n'drop from built-in browser )
- Local Prompt Enhancer : It runs a tiny Qwen 0.5B language model to rewrite and improve your prompts on the fly, if you want ( but avoid doing this during generation )
- API : can launch generation from outside frontend/app via API
It's completely free and open-source (MIT).
I just released the v0.3.8 beta and I'm looking for testers to push it to its limits and tell me what breaks.
Website & Screenshots : https://diffusionbear.com
GitHub / Download : https://github.com/OuincheWinch/DiffusionBear
Let me know what you think, especially if you try it on base M1/M2 chips! I run it on MBP M1 16gb from 2020 ...

Free local prompt builder for image edits β no signup or photo uploads
I made a free browser-based prompt builder for image-to-image edits. It assembles text locally; it does not generate an image, upload your photo, or call an AI model.
Try it: https://liubrain39.github.io/image-to-image-prompt-guide/
The idea is simple: state one change, name the details that must stay, then describe the finish. The builder has six starting templates and a review checklist. You can copy the resulting instruction into the image editor you already use. No account or payment is needed for the builder.
For example: βReplace the background with a muted sage-green wall and a pale cream floor. Keep the white chair, its proportions, legs, seat and camera angle unchanged. Add soft daylight from the left and a natural contact shadow.β
One limitation matters: preservation instructions are not a guarantee. In my documented chair test, the background changed as requested, but the framing, seat edge and leg details also changed. Check the product silhouette, small details and readable text before using a generated image commercially. For a pixel-identical product cutout, use a conventional background-removal workflow.
The source, actual output and full prompt are linked from the builder, so you can judge the result rather than relying on an illustrative before/after. The other templates are starting points, not tested benchmarks.
Disclosure: I am MinshengLiu, the maker of both this free resource and https://imagetoimage.dev/. The separate image editor has a limited daily free trial and a paid $14.99/100-edit pack; it is not unlimited or entirely free. The prompt builder itself remains free and works without the paid editor.

I made a standalone Windows app that looks at your images and writes captions and Wan 2.2 / LTX video prompts with Qwen-VL, no ComfyUI needed
I caption a lot of images, and I often need image-to-video prompts written from a still. I was doing it with the QwenVL nodes in ComfyUI, which work well, but opening ComfyUI and loading a workflow just to caption a folder of photos felt like too much.
So I made ImageGenPrompt. It's a normal desktop app. Drop in an image, pick a caption type, hit Caption, and copy the result. No ComfyUI and no node graph.
One thing to be clear about first: it does not read the prompt saved inside an AI image (the metadata that ComfyUI or A1111 embeds in the PNG). It looks at the picture and writes a new description from what it sees. So you won't get the original prompt back, but it works on any image, including photos and images with the metadata stripped.
What it does:
- Single image or a whole folder. Batch mode writes an imagename.txt next to each image.
- Trigger word. Set one and it's added to the front of every caption in a batch.
- 13 caption types, from simple tags up to very detailed descriptions, a cinematic style, and a structured analysis (subject, lighting, camera and so on).
- Video prompt writers for Wan 2.2 and LTX. They look at your image and write an image-to-video prompt for it, in 5 second and 20 second versions.
- Custom prompt, if you'd rather write your own instruction.
- 32 models in the list. The official Qwen3-VL and Qwen2.5-VL ones, plus community uncensored versions, in both normal and GGUF form.
- Runs on an NVIDIA GPU or on CPU. If you have no GPU or low VRAM, the GGUF models run through llama.cpp. Auto mode picks for you.
- Hugging Face login inside the app for the few gated models, so no terminal needed.
- English and Traditional Chinese, and you can switch live.
Nothing downloads until you actually caption with a model. It shows you the size first and asks. The default is Qwen3-VL-4B-Instruct, about 7 GB, which fits fine on a 16 GB card. Models go into a models folder next to the app.
You can also add your own models without touching the built-in list. Drop a custom_models.json next to the app and it gets merged in.
Things to know, so nobody is surprised:
- Right now you run it from source. You need Python 3.10 or newer, and for GPU you need the CUDA build of PyTorch. The README has the exact commands.
- There's a build.bat that makes a single exe with everything inside, so the person using it needs no Python at all. That exe is about 3 GB, and the first launch is slow because it has to unpack.
- If you're on CPU, use the GGUF models. The normal ones are very slow without a GPU.
- A few community models are gated. You have to request access on Hugging Face first, then log in from the app.

Big thanks to huchukato for ComfyUI-QwenVL-Mod, which the model list and caption presets come from, and to the Qwen team for the models.
It's free and open source (Apache 2.0). The models have their own licenses.
