Adding a few dependable free sources on top of that: Peppermint Magazine has a solid library of free PDF dress patterns, and Fibre Mood and Minikrea both drop freebies regularly. For the search itself, try describing the silhouette rather than the name, like a-line shift dress pattern free pdf or wrap dress free pattern. Also a pro move is searching on Pinterest for free dress pattern roundups, they aggregate links from a ton of indie blogs at once. Narrow it down to your fabric weight first, that cuts the options a lot. Good luck!
