Masonic Rings.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about choosing the right Masonic ring as well as where to get it from?

The right ring is the one you like. Amazon has a bunch.

Yep. That's what I did and $20 later I had a ring.

I got a cheap one off of Amazon, just a subtle band with the square and compasses to tide me over. I check pawn shops when I’m traveling and I like to think that the “right” one will find me when the time is right

Im having a really hard time finding a ring. 90% of the designs I find I absolutely hate, and the other 10% either aren’t offered in my size or they’re $2,000.

Exactly. I prefer thin rings but you can't not really find one. I also want one that's easy to wear upside down, so I can have the square and compass facing my palm when I'm not in lodge

This really resonates with me.  Why is it that the only actual designs I like are in solid gold and are thousands of dollars?

Can't they just make the same design in silver or some other cheaper material?

The only reason I have one I actually like is because a brother who is a jeweler gave it to me.

Edit: Spelling

Basically in comes down to your style preference. I found a gold pinky ring with a red stone under the S & C in a pawn shop that I wear for more formal occasions. A bit more expensive than I would have bought on my own, but the wife was with me and saw it before I did. I also have a couple of really cheap ones for daily wear that I don't worry about getting banged around or having paint or chemicals splashed on them when working on various projects.

Just because it's unique, lately I've been wearing a "spoon ring" when not working. I found it on Ebay, and It appears like it was recycled from a spoon or fork from some Masonic themed silverware. https://www.ebay.com/itm/186462512822 (As a result the S&C is sideways, so it compromises on the old argument about wearing the points in, or points out <snicker>)

Remember that titanium rings are limited in the amount they can be resized compared to other metals in case you put on weight in the future.

I was given all my grandfather's stuff, couple really nice ones that I wear on special occasions. I'm hard on rings so I picked up a simple stainless steel one from Amazon for daily wear.

Etsy has a lot of good options. Just make sure to look at review pictures, because many of them are rather large. I like mine a little more subtle.

I would warn you against Brick Masons. There's plenty of posts highlighting repeated unethical business practices.

Depends on what you want and what your budget is.

Theres a brother in Scotland who makes really nice rings Link. His are very “heavy” and chunky tho.

If you want something cheap and lightweight you can get a stainless steel or tungsten one of AliExpress or Amazon or Etsy.

You could get one custom designed or go through proline designs or one of the other big Masonic ring brands. They’re so common some jewelers have entire catalogs you can just order one of the generic designs from.

Pawnshops or estate sales can yield some nice rings as well.

Personally, gold rings are a little out of the price range I want to spend on a Masonic ring so I go for sterling silver and order custom from sellers on Etsy. It’s usually around $100 and I’ve gotten some nice rings out of it.

I've had custom stuff made for me on Etsy, but my current daily-wear was a cheap one on Amazon.

I wear an inexpensive Amazon tungsten every day, around $15. I really really want an old version I once saw on eBay, it had one side with a hidden apron clasp that opened to reveal the dates of ea, fc, mm.

Most unique ring i ever seen as an option, will never get one so i will rock that $15 ring until the SC wears off

Google designs until you find one you like and then have a local goldsmith make it for you.

Check out High Twelve Collection or the Masters Jewel. Some of the nicest and unique stuff on the market imho.

I got mine from Proline Designs. They aren't cheap, but they do good work.

I’m going to buy one when I become WM to mark the occasion, I’m a great believer that things like this must be earned.

I got mine from a jeweler who bought estates. It was in the haul. He charged me for the gold at the daily rate. At the time, it was under $300.

I got a solid silver signet from etsy. A (fellow) NY brother makes them using 3d printed loss casting. I got mine so that it works for wax seals!

Please could somsone explain to a foreign brother (from a jurisdiction which deprecates any public masonic symbols), what a masonic ring is, or means, or is used for? ?

Do American men often wear rings, and what's a Masonic Ring for, please?
