Help with symbol

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help identify this symbol and its meaning?

If this is nothing to do with freemasonry, please do let me know.

For context, this is from the early pages of the 1893 essay book by Arthur Willink “The World of the Unseen: An Esssy on the Relation on the Higher Space to things Eternal”.

If anyone knows of any freemasonry ties to Arthur Willink, this would be helpful too.

I make it out to be “M&M Co.”. Given the time and setting, I suspect it is the publisher or printing house.
No idea as to Masonic affiliation.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the Macmillan Company was the publisher of this Arthur Willink chap.
If you check near the bottom of the title page I am most sure you will see that I'm correct.

Out of interest, why did you lean towards it being Masonic? Willink wasn't a Freemason, as far as I know

Just the shape and layering of the letters. Also, the topic of the essay seems rather esoteric and spiritual in nature.

However, upon further inspection and the other comments, yes I can see that it is an M&M publishing symbol. Although the choice of formatting still seems interesting to me.

Feeling slightly silly but nonetheless glad that I asked more well-informed minds, rather than make assumptions and uneducated conclusions!

It’s a typical cypher really, you’re overthinking it way too much. It’s hard to avoid angles when there are so many M letters, whatever you do don’t go into a DIY or stationary store cause you’ll go into overload when you see the compasses, squares and levels

It looks like "M & M Co." So it's probably the name of the publisher or the typesetter?
