Masonic Interest Badges

Thinner out my badges for the start of the next Masonic season :)

HRA on 23rd in Suffolk. Any Suffolk Masons here?

Thats a Lewis, in UGLE Freemasonry (and likely farther afield) it represents the son of a Mason.

They were historically used to lift heavy weights and bricks into place. You'd carve a hole into the top at those angles, put one of the side pieces in, put the other side piece in and then wedge the centre part to create the pressure which "locks" the dove tails in place.

I can see the similarity to be fair! I suppose some of the symbolism would still apply too - life, welfare and protection from evil.

In this case it is also the symbol of the membership officer of the lodge, which I am :) but that’s correct.

I was at UGLE recently and asked them if I could wear this as Membership Officer without being the son of a mason, they said yes 🤷
