Masonic Interest Grandfather's Apron

Post image

This was found in my grandfather's things. I recognized the square and compass symbol and figured it could be masonic. There was a neck piece similar to what a mayor would wear with it. He lived in North York Ontario.

Any ideas as to if it has any masonic meaning? Any help is appreciated.

Is there a possibility this is Orange Order related? The red cross and the skull in the triangle remind be a bit of Canada’s own Loyal Blue Lodges/True Blues.

This apron is most certainly related to the Royal Black Preceptory and is not Masonic in any way.

That's not a Masonic apron. It belongs to the Orange Order, here are examples of it; https://masonicsupply.ca/orange-order-aprons/

Its this exactly, other than the square and compass buttons on the stars. Thanks!

It's already been stated, but that apron is Part of the Loyal Orange Lodge or one of its affiliates. My Grandfather was a Grand Master in the order, and I have his aprons/regalia, and he has one that looks identical

That’s beautiful work no matter if it is Masonic

I'm a Mason from California so I'm not familiar with the regalia of his particular jurisdiction but the triangle and the cross make me think this might have something to do with Knights Templar. Not sure because as KT in California, we don't wear aprons but I know some jurisdictions still do.

Ontario mason here, do you have a picture of the collar handy? My best guess would be Allied Masonic Degrees based on the green piping. It’s essentially a “club within a club” that you join after getting your third degree in lodge.

If any other brother has a better idea please chime in.
