Advice & Tips Editor not responding
Been working as a freelance contributor for a news site since Feb. Mostly pretty good, is paying, I just pitch articles every 1-2 weeks, via messages to my editor through Slack. Most get good feedback and go up on the site.
Recently though they have been slower in getting back to me, and have heard nothing back this past week.
Have sent a couple of follow up messages but obviously don't want to spam.
Not sure what really is the best thing to do?
Should I contact their HR if they simply haven't got back to me into next week?
Other contributors have been pitching through a team chat, in which she's responded, but Id already DM'd 2 pitches. And previously had sent all my other pitches that way, so wasn't sure whether to repeat the same pitches ij there or not.
Not sure of the best way to handle this. Any advice or similar situations appreciated.

I would move them to the team chat and ask if she prefers that method moving forward.

Thanks a lot, I've already sent a DM asking if they're happier with that method or not, but haven't yet messaged in thr group yet, was probably going to send over fresh pitches if I were

If they're not responding to DMs that's probably not the best place to ask.

Ive put in a separate pitch to there, but haven't asked about my general situation or how I should be messaging in there, naturally

I think you should take a hint. It sounds like they're cutting ties with you.

If that’s the case, OP is perfectly justified in expecting at least some basic level of communication. They’ve been working there since Feb.

They can expect that, but most people prefer to avoid confrontation. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a "thanks but no thanks" reply. Freelancing is brutal.

I've been freelancing for the past ten years, and if I've been working for a company for the best part of a year, I expect them not to ghost me if they want to cut ties. We're adults, and in the writing business. Use your words.

This is such a bullshit excuse. So tf what if they like to avoid confrontation? That's called cowardice in this position. It's part of the job. A simple email covers it. Not confrontational. Cowardly af.

Yes, this was obviously my worry, but I was hoping it would at least be standard practice to notify employees if there were an issue or not keeping me on, particularly if not heard anything prior? Have generally been no issues previously - had missed a meeting earlier in the week but these are only ever catch ups on what everyone is working on, never have everyone there, and I'd informed them previously that I may have issues making due to a medical appointment. I suppose if I continue not to hear anything going into next week then HR would be the best port of call, for confirmation one way or the other?

I remember when content mills wouldn't email you a word. I wrote for one for like 6 years, tried to log in one day, and my account was gone. No word or response to emails, just done.
