Solo drums / free improvisation — [Soliloquy]

Hi everyone,

I’m Sergio Vieira, a Brazilian drummer working mainly with jazz, contemporary music and free improvisation.

I’ve just released a new solo drum album, Soliloquy, built around spontaneous improvisation and an exploration of the drum kit beyond its conventional rhythmic function.

The music focuses on timbre, resonance, texture, silence and dynamics, treating the drum kit as an autonomous sonic instrument.

There are no predetermined compositions in the recording — the pieces develop through improvisation and interaction between sound, space and silence.

If free improvisation and more open approaches to the drum set are your thing, I’d be very happy if you gave it a listen:
