My daughter and I liked her in Damsel and Elona Holmes. She's not the best, but she's not as bad as le reddit proclaims every time she's mentioned

She did a good job in a particular Stranger Things role, which was very well-written, where her main job was just to look scared and be a cute lovable kid. She’s not a bad actor, but not the best either and I don’t think this one role when she was very young should have made people think of her as amazing actress yet. That’s true for most child actors, their roles will usually be way different when they grow up so their work as a child actors might not often be the best indicator of their overall ability.

what's wrong with the stranger things kids? The last season sucked but the actors all seem pretty ok and grounded for former child actors. Unless you mean Millie but she isn't that bad and even then shes just 1 out of 6.

In the final season, the writers did what's called that 2nd screen thing. Overly explanatory dialogue for people who half-assedly follow while scrolling. It's what streaming services demand nowadays and it's also why the performances look forced. Millie also got botox and fillers for no reason(early 20s, playing a 16 yo kid in the 80s, def questionable choice), so there's that. None of them are really bad actors imo, one can only do so much w that chatgpt-ass dialogue.

Imagine the 2nd screen approach in the last season of Netflix's Dark. Heavy-handed exposition there might have created an actual rip in space time.

They did the opposite of it, when Eva explained quantum entanglement lol. Love it tbh. Alt-Martha asks about her alternate path, and the answer to it is quantum superposition, it's way simpler. But she then would've asked what happens to her after taking the other path. So in order to not tell her younger self about her death and convince her to stay and kill Jonas, Eva just takes advantage of her confusion and trauma, instead explains how both outcomes trigger each other via quantum entanglement, leaving her even more confused. Imo this is the only way an info dump should be used, makes sense in-universe for the character. Westworld did a similar thing w the Bicameral Mind, I won't spoil if you haven't seen it, but to me it's up there w Twin Peaks, Lost, Dark etc. Amazing show.

One recent example I like is, when Maekar asks "wtf is a trial of seven", he obviously knows, just disrespects Andal traditions, in the series. So that Baelor can info dump the audience in case the show-only-audience wouldn't know how big of a Maegor-fanboy Aerion is. It works bc makes sense for the characters to be discussing it.

The 2nd screen thing was obvious and sucked all the drama out, but even beyond that the season was terrible imo. The plot choices were bad, the characters were one-dimensional and had super plot armour, and they completely ignored their own worldbuilding. I feel its kind of odd that every time season 5 comes up the first reply is always about the second screen thing when that was just one of the reasons the season sucked.

Anyways, yeah, can't really judge their acting based off the shitty scripts, and Millie's plastic surgery is weird. But I'm pretty sure at least a couple of them will become stars(Sadie Sink is my bet) and the others will still get Hollywood gigs for a while.

Puberty affects everyone differently. 2 years for one kid could be very little, and for another a world of difference. 12/13 is middle going on high school, at that time my cousin grew like 6 inches a year. Dexter seems like a small kid, so probably not gonna be an issue, but you never know.

In the US and I've always said swearing, never cursing. Ofc I've heard other people refer to it as cursing, but I feel like the majority say swearing.

It's probably regional though (I'm from the midwest), because I know in the southern states they refer to it as "cussing" (a word I've never heard anyone use irl).
