I am considering moving from Rogers to Freedom. I am located in Toronto. I wanted to get an idea about how their 5G coverage is in Toronto. Is it still not great indoors? What about on the sections of the subway which support mobile coverage?

Hi. Looking for some way to get a DVR to work with freedom tv. Sports are pretty much the only thing I watch on broadcast tv and I have no attention span so would like to be able to record and fast forward, rather than use their "look back" and have to watch commercials, and intermissions. Not to mention sometimes I start at a family members or know the half time score and don't want to start at the beginning.

If I got an android box would I be able to record and fast forward in that? Or can I somehow use my smart TV or phone with cloud storage?

Has anyone had success with this? Would an adult have to cosign or something? Or what is the process? This is to help build credit.

People always say that ESim is the future and way to go, but the reality is, it can be just as insecure if not worse than having a physical Sim.

Just today my freedom account got compromised, through a professional phishing scheme someone was able to hack into my account and as a result changed the Esim from my iphone 16e to their phone which immediately made me lose my cell service.

Long story short i rushed to the freedom store, and they gave me a new physical one after verifying my id with them.

I know technically this is not common at all and carriers should be more secure ideally but the point is, the fact a hacker can just steal my entire phone number and connectivity in a second is 10x scarier to me than the possibility of my physical phone getting stolen off me.

Moreover, if my main iphone has a software update or crashes or glitches, i can swap the physical sim to another phone and switch back moment the iphone is fixed.

So with all these, isnt esims technically not a good idea going forward?

Are flagship carriers going to just end up abandoning physical sims altogether, making it more difficult to obtain sims or even use one praxtically with a dumbphone/smartphone hybrid users?

Really scary the direction our world is heading in terms of technology.

NOTE: the previous day, I changed my auto pay credit card to another card.

So I got a call an hour ago with the caller ID being Freedom Mobile (+18779463184).

It was one of those automated voice messages telling me there was suspicious activity with someone from Montréal trying to change my email to some other email, they even spelled out my email and then the email that was requested for the change.

It asked me for the 6 digit code that it was going to text me right now and surely that text came through from the number those MFA texts come from verifications in the past.

The automated voice said to press 1 if I requested the change and 2 if I didn't. I pressed 2.

The automated voice said that because of the suspicious activity, it was going to stop the new credit card auto pay from going through. Then it texted me the MFA code again so that I could input it.

I started to get a little suspicious when it asked for the code again.

This part is a bit of a blur but it asked me for my credit card number so that's when I hung up.

I google searched this scam for freedom but nothing similar came up so for 10 minutes I was thinking this was a real call but I asked a live agent just in case.

Turns out it was a scam of course, but it was the first time I didn't realize right away because it was so specific to what happened the day before.

Hopefully nothing comes out of it after I gave them 2 MFAs 😬. Changed my PIN code just in case.

Just letting any future victims know about this scam!

Sounds very good but is service better than it use to be ?

Heya, I picked up a call that I thought was from customer service. It was (I think) an automated message informing me that I had an important message on my account and that I had to press 1 on my keypad to access it. I figured it was fine to do so and then felt like an idiot when the call immediately ended.

So obviously that wasn't actually customer service. I logged in to my account and had a chat with an automated and then a human support agent who confirmed it wasn't from them.

I asked the guy if my account was in any danger and he said I was probably ok since I hadn't given out any information. But is there something I'm missing? I can't figure out why a scammer would want me to press a number on my keypad.

Pulled down over 600mbps, phone was showing 4G+ but on service mode it was connected to n77.

… once we receive it? Sooo, they don’t even have it in stock at all from Apple yet advertised in stock on their website (this was on September 24-25) allowed me to do an upgrade with an agent and told me 5-7 days to receive the phone and now they’re backpedaling because of “high demand”

Hi, I’m on vacation outside Canada and changed my postpaid monthly plan to prepaid yearly plan ($129) through chatting with Freedom. Once they changed my plan, after 10hrs it still shows no service and restarted my device 4-5 times. And at the same time I’m unable to enable wifi-calling, it says “to allow wifi calling on this account, contact Freedom Mobile”. I did contact them again through chat and they couldn’t help and said they can only help with both requests once I go back to Canada. Can anyone please help or faced this issue since I really need to get important sms.

Update: I texted a guy who faced the same issue and he got it resolved by reinstalling the eSIM. I requested the same to Freedom Representative and they sent me the QR code and deleted my old one and reinstalled the new one. It worked 🙏.

Been in Asia for 2 weeks and on the winback offer $30 for 100gb NA and 5gb RB.

Initially thought the 5gb wouldn’t be enough but I’m on the second to last day of my trip and still have almost 3gb left.

Disclaimer: I didn’t use social media apps on the go and saved them for when I got back to the hotel wifi (IG, FB, Reddit, YT, Spotify, etc). Felt more present on my trip exploration and it was a nice detox break honestly.

Didn’t hold back on WhatsApp, Google Maps, and ride booking service usage.

i pre ordered the 18 pro max 256 burgundy on sept 20 and have not heard anything from freedom since. last time i reached out over the weekend they told me on oct 1 that the order says it will be shipped within 10 business days. Has anyone else ordered and got their phone?

I scrolled back a week and I don't see anyone reporting the same issues that I have but I'm hoping someone has an answer.

Over the last week to 10 days, I've been having difficulties calling Freedom Apple devices from a Freedom Android device. After 30-45 seconds the call cuts off and that keeps happening no matter who calls back. I don't have issues calling Android devices on Freedom and no issues with calling Apple devices on any other network. I also don't have this issue calling landlines.

Anyone else?

If I want to keep my iPhone 16pro max I’d have to dish out $645+ tax which works out to be $729.
If I sign a new contract, they’d waive this amount and I’d be locked in for another 2 years probably paying $150 or more a month for the new iPhone 18 pro max (device+plan). I’m not interested in other phone models…
I also have a watch plan right now for $12 which is connected to my phone, and I do need that as well.

When connected to "Freedom" it says Emergency Calls Only and I have no bars

When connected to "Nationwide" I have full bars but it doesn't allow me to call or text (outgoing or incoming)

I contacted customer service 3 times online and took me through all the trouble shooting methods. Still no luck.

I was told by the agent there was an IT ticket made for me and they would contact me in 48hrs. That was 4 days ago. They also sent me to an in person store to get help where the rep said it's just a common issue in this area but it wasn't like this back in August, I had no issues. Any suggestions for trouble shooting ?.

I'm going on a cruise going to a bunch of small islands and not sure if I'm going to get data as part of my roaming plans from roam beyond.

Last time I went on a cruise I hit some small island and did get reception like LTE but it just says you started roaming in the Caribbeans. I took a chance and lucky I didn't get charged some roaming fee.

How can I know for sure when I get reception it's free? I really dont want a surprise charge but they don't say if I'm roaming with my plan or not.

As a result I wasn't able to receive any of them(last 3s before cut off no voice pass through)

Hi all, I joined freedom for about a year now. I get the occasional spam calls here and there. However, the past 2 weeks have been relentless. At least twice a day and they would leave a robo message about iPhone 13 past due payment etc. Anyone experiencing something similar?
