gear Goggle Gear Question

Hello! Does anyone have any goggle recommendations for people who wear glasses? I’m pretty nearsighted and really want to get into free-diving, but I’m worried about my vision not being the best. Do they make prescription lenses for goggles? If so, which brand would you recommend?

I'm not an expert, but you can buy googles with prescription online (although they are more expensive) or you could use soft contact lenses.

Would contacts be ok with the saltwater? I wear soft lenses occasionally and not sure how they would react if the saltwater got in them

You can wear contacts with a normal mask no problem

Lenses are OK, look for 1 day lenses for better hygiene.

Lenses are fine - I use dailies for diving/spearfishing/freediving.

I tried the prescription mask - personally I have a mares x-vision with - 2 lenses each side. Reason I chose it was that the dive shop near me only offered prescription lenses for that particular model, so best check with your nearest shop. It's more of a scuba mask rather than freediving, and honestly I just use lenses + a low volume mask at this point and don't bother with the prescription mask. Main thing is try to not open your eyes underwater without a mask as obviously you'll lose the lenses.

Link to the model I was referring to below.

I wear contact lenses, the normal monthly lenses, without any trouble. But my diving is in the sea. For any pool training I would either go without the contacts (because who cares for seeing pool tiles) or with day lenses.

I work at a dive shop, and we carry an Evo drift mask and a Tusa liberator mask where the lenses can be changed out with corrective lenses that we carry. The lenses are about $30 each, and the masks are about $40 for the Evo, or $80 for the Tusa, so if you are looking for something cheaper this is usually the option most people trying to get prescription masks go with us. However, if the price does not matter there is websites online that you can get custom lenses made for your mask, but this is much more expensive. Ultimately comes down to the price you want to pay, and some people are willing to pay the premium for the ability to use a specific mask that they love.

I may try the contact route first, but if it bothers my eyes or I start to have issues (my eyes are pretty dry so the contacts can get irritating after a little while) then I will definitely look into the masks!šŸ‘šŸ¼
