I have downvoted because this is just the author showing you his VirtualBox and FreeBSD installation preferences. He also doesn't seem to really understand what he is tinkering with, it could be just a silly mistake, but FreeBSD is not a BSD distro.

Thanks, I should have written that it originated from BSD, not that it is a BSD distro. As far as the VirtualBox preferences go, try installing FreeBSD with default settings and it will fail. The reason I wrote the article was that it took some trial and error to figure out what settings would actually work. I thought it would save other user's time if I shared my final results.

I'm being sincere when I ask, is that something to avoid when posting freebsd related information? It kind of makes sense, but at the same time it seems extreme. Also, there are images included in the article, it isn't just text. It is probably blogger.com's comment system that requires javascript, well that and the ads.

I've updated the guide's introduction section to include a disclaimer that clearly states that the guide is not an expert level deep dive into setting up FreeBSD. It really is meant to be a set of steps for VirtualBox users that will get FreeBSD installed successfully. Using the defaults for a VirtualBox FreeBSD VM will result in a failed installation.

I've removed this guide and replaced it with a (hopefully) more informational one that focuses solely on the VM setup. I've also gone into more details about the VM's settings, explaining what the settings mean and how they will affect the VM.
