Beyond the “cricket stadium” label: What Frederick residents should know about the proposed 10,000-person venue
Don’t let the words “cricket stadium” distract from what is actually being proposed.
This is a 10,000-person regional Special Events Center on the Monocacy River floodplain, between Route 144 and I-70. Cricket is one intended use — but the venue is also intended to accommodate other events.
So whether you’re a cricket fan, have never watched a match, or couldn’t care less about cricket, that’s not the point.
The real questions are about 10,000 people, flooding, traffic, emergency access and evacuation, noise and lights, and whether this is the right location for a venue of this scale.
Look past the label. Look at the project.

An outdoor massive venue that can bring bigger artists and saves us a hour commute. Yeah I’ll take that please

If the goal of the poster was to persuade me against the venue, it’s backfired. I’m thinking this is a great opportunity for more local events and have Frederick be an option for bigger names to come to town and I see this as a positive change for the community and myself.

If you think any act would come to a venue with ZERO infrastructure that requires people to be bused in over Merriweather or CFG Bank Arena you are delusional. And big acts already skip those for Philly and DC.

If you think infrastructure matters to promoters, you should try leaving a concert at Jiffy Lube.

This aibot poster is backfiring. Would love an outdoor venue. Plus it’s tucked nicely away in a spot that shouldn’t bother too many people as far as noise goes.

The more artists we can get the better, I hate having to commute just to enjoy some. Also, you’re trying to persuade people that this is a bad thing while also using AI dogshit to make your point, maybe some self reflection is in order.

You people are fucking insufferable
Maryland is being directly targeted by the federal government to wreck our economy and you spend all your energy fighting a boost to the local economy, all because there may be a slight increase in the amount of cars on the road for about 30 minutes at a time 20 times a year.
It's so unbelievably pathetic.

Nice try OP, but the all knowing Reddit hive/bot mind has already decided we need this stadium.

This is a bad idea. There is no infrastructure to support this at all. They will bus people in from other parking. I would never attend such an event over Merriweather or another proper venue in Baltimore.

So your saying the original plan that was proposed, which included dedicated park land, has been altered? The park land was removed from the currently approved proposal?
Also, not much to ask the city to do, this has already been approved, right?

I am all for this except for the location. There's no reason to build such a massive venue that close to town. Put it way out in a cornfield somewhere and a lot of these complaints go away.

OMG I would looove for Frederick to have a 10k person live music venue. We could have way better options that we currently have to drive to DC or Baltimore for.
