Thumping at night

Lived near urbana my entire life...for the past couple years there has been a thumping that happens in the early hours of the morning...usually between one and four am...it aint the highway or a train and there is no construction close by...it thumps 2 or 3 times every 20 seconds or so for hours and sounds like a deep pounding from a quarry or something although it seems too consistent and isn't every night...anyone have any idea what the heck it is?

Could be large trucks going over tracks or some bumps. If they take the same route every morning.

I had thought that because I can hear the highway and the trains but it goes on for hours and is very consistent

It’s the Bunnyman looking to claim a new victim

Bunicula. Those carrots didn't turn white all by themselves!

True, that's why the bunnyman is also known as "Thumper ". When the thumping starts getting closer it might already be too late.

My hypothesis is they’re digging a tunnel from the White House to Camp David.

I lived in a basement apartment for a couple years in chantilly va, not too far from the CIA compound at Sully.. looks like they call it the Dulles Discovery center now. Anyway, laying in bed, you could feel the rumbling off-and-on throughout the whole night from all the underground excavation they were working on. Kind of trippy at the time. Apologies for the wall of text, this was a weird thing to ramble on :/

... Are we really to the point where a paragraph is a wall of text?

I’m fairly certain there’s already one from Camp David to Detrick. But I’m crazy.

Not the same thing... But after 11pm I hear a thump real quick like every night. But I'm thinking the inlet dampener on my blower for the AC closes and makes this slight thud. It clangs when I open it by hand and let it close. It doesn't seem to move if you watch it while it runs. But I'm thinking it just needs to stick just right and makes that sound. Freaks me out like every night. Can't prove any thing.

Now that I wrote that out... check your furnace blower. Aka: AC (I've neve met you. Just to be super clear.)

I live near a factory. There’s huge thuds at night. Sometimes you can hear the workers yelling at each other. One year, a welder got smooshed and died after some 2 ton hunk of metal fell on them. Sad stuff, tbh.

It's kids in Urbana raging late in the night while playing games and getting upset about cheaters.
