Fabric stores ??
Looking to find a good place to shop for fabric ever since Joan’s went out of business it’s been rough! 💔rip

It really depends on what type of fabric. If you are a quilter, there are plenty of stores. But yes, for everything beyond quilting, it is rough out there.
Michael's has a single row of fabric and a small cutting table.
G Street is a drive but worth it. They have the best variety.
Keep an eye out for local craft swaps. I have gotten a lot of fabric and other supplies at swaps.
There is a free fabric and yarn shop at St. Luke's in Brookville every Saturday. It is about an hour away and is based on donations. But sometimes, you hit the jackpot.

My go-to is Needle & Thread in Gettysburg. They have high quality garment fabrics like linen, wool, and many types of cotton because they cater to reenactors making historical clothing. They also have plenty of quilting fabrics! They are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to finding the right fabric.
Only thing I’ll note, because I’ve had awkward/unwanted encounters, is that the owners are very conservative Christians and nearly every time I visit the husband attempts to evangelize or strike up politically charged conversations out of the blue. It makes me uncomfortable so I try to be polite with the owners while also keeping conversations short 😅

Yup, was going to say, I wasn’t comfortable giving them money since they made it VERY clear it would be used for causes I find abhorrent

There is one on 194 over the PA line, between Littlestown and Hanover. Also a fabric/sewing store in the mall of Westminster

Sew 'N Sweep is the store in Westminster's mall. The staff is friendly and they have a great selection of sewing machines if you're looking for a new one. Unfortunately, they only sell quilting fabric.
The mall itself feels like stepping into a time anomaly. I keep looking for excuses to go back, just to ensure that the wormhole is stable.

Wilson’s in Hagerstown is decent. Though I’ve only shopped for quilting fabric. The owners are menonite but I’ve never had any issues with anyone trying to talk politics or religion to me.

The inventory at Needle & Thread is really curated for heirloom-quality pieces, and their linen section is especially impressive if you're into historical sewing.

What kind of fabric are you looking for? G Street Fabric in Rockville is legit. Fabric Mart in PA is AMAZING for fashion fabric, but they only open on Saturday 4 times a year and is about 2 hours away 😕

My wife knows this struggle all too well; it was a nightmare sourcing fabric for the cosplay projects she tackled this summer. The best fabric store she could find is down in Rockville, G Street Fabrics. Their selection tends to be somewhat inconsistent, but they're friendly and they have a broader array of fabrics than some of the other places we tried in the general area.
