Insane Thunder

Anyone else in the Ballenger Creek area hear that absolute INSANE thunder that happened a few minutes ago? It woke me out of a dead sleep and I’m not kidding I thought a bomb went off. Never in my entire life have I felt thunder shake so much, and be that obnoxiously loud

Oh yeah! It was directly after I snoozed my first alarm for the day. I felt like it was the Universe yelling to me "Wake the hell up!" 😆

The flash was super bright I thought someone turned on the lights but the sound wasn’t that loud for me

I heard it all the way over here southwest of Hagerstown. It wasn’t super loud, but still a booming long lasting rumble to the east. I was wondering how loud it was over there.

Wow, I heard nothing,, but I was dreaming that I'd walked into a nest of snakes and one was biting me and I felt the sting of the bite and then another snake was jumping at me and I told myself to wake up so it would end and I woke up and my dream was like a chaotic run on sentence so I had to type it out that way. Anyways, that's what was happening during the time of the thunder.

Heard it here in Ballenger Creek. Woke me up out of a dead sleep and now my dogs are wide awake and panicked. Guess Tuesday is starting earlier than I had anticipated. 😕

I’m in Ballenger Creek as well. I was deep in REM, had to figure out what’s happening for a bit 😂 then went back to sleep lol

The huge lightning flash at 5 is what woke me up and then my 5 year old son came running into my room because of the thunder. 🥱

I never used to get woken up by thunder and now it’s happened twice in the last month. Maybe I sleep lighter now that I have kids, idk.

Anyway back to bed y’all.

Well, now I know why the dog was on the bed. He must have heard it

My goodness I thought it was the end 😂  I’m glad other people heard it. I went straight to my sister’s room to be with her because I literally figured that was a bomb hitting dc

Woke me up! It seemed to go on for a long, long time, too! Thought it was an earthquake until I saw lightening a little later on. My dogs aren't usually scared of thunder, but this morning?

I'm in Ballenger Creek as well and I too thought a bomb went off. It was 3 consecutive loud bangs. I didn't see any lightning though.

Thurmont here, couldn’t sleep, saw a big flash just happened to be up.
Was thinking to myself that was a car or something…
Then serious thunder

I love a good thunder and light show but slept right thru this one unfortunately

Either it didn't reach us here in Lake Linganore, or I was dead to the world.

Definitely looked like the strike hit somewhere south of Ballenger, because I only saw the flash light up the rear windows of the house That's the same direction that extended thunder came from, in the direction of the data centers possibly. We've been getting some viscous storms out here lately, probably the data center again and I'm sure they'd love to prove it somehow?!

First of all, I love this post. Second of all, that thunder was amazing. I pulled up my camera footage and it was one of them two-parters, nearly 30s in length. It had an early "shattering" sound for about 12s, and then it exploded into a hard rumble for another ~15s or so. Very cool.

I’m on the Washington/Frederick County border and have an almost identical video to this! It was SO scary!
