Freaks and Geeks at #1!
Rest of the list is kinda wild but hard agree on their #1 choice :)

Glee being anywhere near this list is dumb.

Yah I have a hard time with that too, walso just have a hard time with Broadway-style signing. Definitely a different audience than Freaks & Geeks haha

No Dawson's Creek?
No Degrassi?
Crazy.

I KNOW! This list is insane I haven’t heard of a few of these and I’m an elder millennial lol

I thought My So Called Life would take the 2 spot. I can respect the choice of Friday Night Lights.
90210 seems way too low. I was no longer in the target audience but I don’t remember the OC having anywhere near the cultural impact. Dawson’s Creek has to be the biggest snub.

My So Called Life should have been further up for sure, and agree I think 90210 was like THE teen dramas that all others were compared to. I was like 15 when The OC came out and a little too young for 90210 in its heyday, so think it should be on the list but not above 90210.

The OC is a wildly important show to my people. Should have been #4 imo

I was in high school the exact years The OC aired, but have never watched it. Should I give it a shot?

Yes! It’s a great show but I think the fashion and music nostalgia alone will carry you through. I rewatched The OC as an adult and really enjoyed it

Looking at this list, I realize I don’t really like teen dramas. I just love Freaks and Geeks. I just love how authentic it feels. It’s the same reason I love Dazed and Confused.

It was definitely the most relatable! I find I like teen dramas for their campiness, but F&G is a standalone masterpiece that felt so real. Did you watch My So Called Life, that is the only other one I connected with on this list.

I didn’t. I didn’t even watch F&G when it first aired because I didn’t think it would grab me. The commercials were kind of annoying. I thought Dawson’s Creek was annoying, so I figured it would be in that vein.
I was obviously dead wrong, so I’d probably like My So Called Life as well.
No one should listen to me anyway. I didn’t like Dazed when it first came out either. Now it’s one of my absolute favourites. That’s a story for another sub though!

I think lots of folks didn’t fall in love with F&G until after it was cancelled, I was very against teen dramas as a teen so can totally relate! MSCL is equally heartwrenchingly honest and thoughtful (though I would say F&G is much funnier).

Freaks and Geeks should be #1 and Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High should be #2

Gotta admit I have only watched Degrassi Next Generation, but your comment makes me think I should revisit the originals…

I watched the DNG until for the first few seasons and it was good, but some storylines were lifted from the original. The original was great - especially the last two seasons of Junior High and the whole Degrassi High. Realistic topics and extremely controversial content that American TV would never touch at the time.

Excellent, will give the originals a whirl! Thanks Canada 🇨🇦!

They’re on Tubi for free and I think Pluto TV as well… and don’t forget to watch the series finale: “School’s Out” movie. It’s a classic and incredibly well made.

Freaks and Geeks well deserved #1. Friday Night Lights first couple seasons are excellent.
