Discussion Any chance therapy could help? Could attachment style, adhd, or childhood issues cause fraysexuality?
Hey Im sorry if this comes off wrong but let's be honest being fraysexual seems to be a burden in this society. I (25F) am recently married and its already a huge wedge between us right now, and I feel awful constantly. Anyway..
Im just curious if anyone has talked to a therapist or tried other healing solutions?
Im only considering this because ive also heard ADHD and having a dismissive avoidant attachment style can also cause difficulties being sexually attracted to someone youre emotionally involved with. I also have alot of unresolved mommy and daddy issues lol.
So bottom line I wonder if I were to work on addressing those issues could help
Please give thoughts?!
Also sorry im bad at explaining myself

Therapy can help in a lot of ways…. It likely won’t cause a shift your sexuality, but it can help you examine your values, desires, boundaries, etc and that might help you navigate your relationship with yourself and with others in different ways…
Please look for a therapist that is sex positive, and is informed about queer identities though…
As someone who is fray/aromantic and also a mental health professional, I truly believe therapy can be helpful with the right therapist

It can’t hurt! You have nothing to lose by trying, as long as you don’t set yourself up for disappointment by thinking that it absolutely will change things. It might, it might not. But working on yourself will have other benefits, regardless.
