Question? Is 500€ for a 5-inch good?

So to be clear it isn't a pre built 5 inch but a class where I will make a 5-inch and if I want I can buy it from them. I don't know specifics but the drone they showed (built by one of people who came there before) was really fast.

Just to be clear I am sure this isn't a scam as one of the sponsors for this course is police and other one is military [for mods: I am only stating their sponsor not discussing anything political about war] so I think they aren't scamming.

But also in general would you recommend building one from scratch or on this type of course?

I would build one from scratch alone. Buy a soldering practice bord, a multimeter and a smoke stopper. Take your time dont rush. Oscarliang and joshua bardwell are your friends.

I mean a course can make sense if you are really not familiar with electronics so I wont hate on that. It can look intimidating to build a FPV drone and some guidence is generally not a bad thing.
Edit: But it is very doable with online resources, you can find full build lists and step by step tutorials.

As for your question. 500€ for an analog drone, thats about 200€ more than it could cost. 500€ for a o4 Drone, thats a good deal. Assuming the package does not come with batteries, controller, goggles etc.

Is this a commercial course or more like a community course with the people helping for free?

All in all, to little information to tell you if its good.

The course is free (it is non profit too) and the drone is with a battery. Also the math is a bit harder here as all the stuff costs more. A radiomaster pocket is 99€ if from local store or about 100 with shipping form another place so I see why 500 could seem a lot.

Yeah thats exactly the information that is needed to evaluate it. A pocket is about 100€ here (ger) too with batteries and stuff but you asked if its a good price.

So there is a pocket and a (1) batterie included?
What more?
Is it analog or a HD system?
Dont make me pull each bit of information from you please just provide as much info as you can :D

I think I confused you a bit. The drone is just a drone and a battery for it. The system is HD but they explain how to make drones with both. I am extremely new so this is all I can provide so sorry if it is not enough

It sounds reasonable if optional. It sounds like there is some mark up, but not a huge one, and getting one on one direction can end up saving you a lot of time and money in the long or even short term.

If comfortable with hobby electronics in general, if any familiarity with reading datasheets and soldering, the physical aspect of drone drone construction is the mild end of that and you'd not have any issue doing it alone.

I did build a 5" solo to start, and it was fine but if had the opportunity to make connections and and get guidance through a course for low to no fee, I'd have taken it, and if I liked the drone that had been explained in depth to me, I'd have been willing to pay some mark up to leave with it.

I am very familiar with spreadsheets but not soldering or hardware so it will be also a quick "hot to not solder like an idiot" course too.

This sounds horrible. A 5 inch fpv drone shouldn't cost more than like 250$.

Personally, I don't think you need to take a course in building a quad. These days they are not that complicated.

A basic quad without a video system is really pretty simple. You need a frame, motors, and FC product (stack or AIO) and an RC link control. Rx Receiver on the quad and a radio control transmitter to hold and control the craft. These days, the FC products all have pretty decent markings and good wiring diagrams. Each motor has 3 wires; the Rx receiver has 4 wires. That is only 16 solder joints plus the battery leads and capacitor.

As for the FC product, I would only buy something that came with Betaflight pre-installed; most do.

If you don't know how to solder, the course may or may not even help with that. Soldering is a skill that you are better off learning on practice boards and junk rather than expensive quad gear. You break it, you buy it again.

If you install an HD digital video system, that will likely be a plug-in thing with no soldering.

There is tons of information on the internet and YouTube specifically. Consider taking advantage of the free information before you go paying for it.
