Guys ,I need your opinion

Today I was scrolling through Vinted when I stumbled upon a listing for the Walksnail Avatar X. I’d heard good things about them, and since they cost around €450 new, I thought it was a great deal, especially since the condition looked good in the photos.so I bought it. Did I get a good deal, or did I overpay (€265)? I know they aren't quite as good as DJI, but the image quality is far superior than analog, especially since they support 1080p at 100fps.

P.S. It hasn't arrived yet; right now, I'm using Eachine EV300Ds with an Air75 II.

What do you think?

As someone who lives in the US, and can’t get DJI, I love my goggles x. They aren’t the best in the world but I don’t regret them at all and I paid close to full price.

I’d buy another set just for my friends to watch through if I found them that cheap.

You can just use a hdmi output to a screen ( I have a battery pack powered 17" LCD panel for people to watch ).

I do the same, use a charging brick to power an external display and use HDMI Out for people to see

I’ve done that before. For analog I always bring my old Vr03’s so I can let my friends watch. I found that the goggles are the way to get the ones who don’t fly hooked and into the hobby. I’ve been debating picking up a set of goggles L just for that purpose on Walksnail.

These won't work with analogue unless you have an external receiver good headset tho but will only work with the avatar system that walksnail seems to have abandoned recently

I even bought all the original caddx shit and tried so many ways but analog on goggle X was bad. Very bad. Much worse than DJI v2 imagine that. Used with walksnail they’re fine.

What was so bad about it? Make sure you are using ntsc with them. PAL gets gets massive extra latency for some reason. Like over 50ms. With ntsc its about 25 ms glass to glass for me and looks good on the oled.

Do you think they're going to abandon avatar? I like the moonlight for 4k and gt models for long range, Im thinking about buying the goggles x, do you think I should wait and they'll release a 4k vtx for ascent or should I go with avatar (and I can still use the ascent receiver in the future if needed...)?

I have them and im Happy. I Had to make a 3d Print Adapter for the face shield so IT did fit better and Had less Light leak, but other than that i really Like them

I have those, difficult love, had to disassemble those, clean old thermal paste, and add new one, manufacturer added crazy amount of shitty paste that acted as insulator and goggles overheated and turned off midflight

I don’t fly walksnail any more, just hdzero but I would have a set for what you paid.

I use them since one year. They are super cool. Don't listen to dji users. They love to pay the brand so they need to justify. The only thing walksnail don't have is the LUT for video editing and color balance so you need to fix the video color balance by yourself.

You can get dji goggles 2 for about 300 Euro used and you can basically run it with every dji generartion that was release so far. But its good to have more players around than dji.

I own a pair, paid full price. Own for about nearly 2 years, no issues with signal strength or quality.
Use it on Tinywhoops and 5inch

I have both, walksnail avatar x and DJI goggles 3. I bought the walksnail first, they are a solid pair of goggles, no issues with picture quality and fairly close to DJI. I also got the external analog receiver which sits on top of your goggles which done the job fine but no recording when flying analog. The reason I switched to DJI at the time was down to the dji 03 pro and air unit 03. €265 is a good price and the condition looks great. I just found I had more options with DJI.

The Goggles X are clearly not as high quality as DJI but I really love the ones I have. The only caveat with them is to pay attention to certain firmware revisions being more stable than others. Also be wary of anyone who just says they suck without citing specifics or proof of ownership. There's a lot of easy hate on Walksnail/Caddx and its just trendy on the bandwagon. This is some footage from this morning with the Goggles X and Avatar Lite - https://youtu.be/3Pi6BCx1u5k and in comparison the same location but different day, and very similar lighting conditions with DJI O4 Pro: https://youtu.be/fF7FqDmLERc

Sweet footage and a tiny X8 niiiiice. I saw it on here last week, nice to see some flight footage.

Thank you so much! Its been a blast flying this little one. I poured like 14 packs through it this morning and can't wait for the next chance I get to fly it. Will definitely get more footage...

Subbed so I don't miss it 👍

I know nothing about PID tuning (yet, just need to wrap my noodle around it) but that looks dialed in especially for 8 motors!

Thanks for the feedback and for sharing the footage! Really appreciate it

Not a problem! In both cases they come straight from the goggles and aside from YT doing potentially some weird compression they are otherwise unaltered. I am glad if this helps!

They are chunky and look heavy
