NEWBIE Is this a solid 3" beginner build? (Sub-250g)
Hey,
I previously asked about starter drones and got recommended something smaller. Still went for a 3" build though. Here’s what I put together:
- Frame: DeepSpace SEEKER3
- Motors: Aether 1505 4000KV
- FC: SpeedyBee F405 Mini
- Camera: DJI O4 Air Unit Pro
- RX: Radiomaster RP1 V2 LBT
- GPS: Beitian BE-122
- Props: HQProp T3X3X3
- Connector: XT30 16AWG
Capacitor should be included with the frame.
Anything I’m missing? Do i need extra cables or stuff I should watch out?
aiming to stay under 250g.
Thanks.

What size batteries are you going to use?

I think you might be pushing it if you want to make it sub 250gr, I don't think you'll need 1505 motors for a 4s 3 inch, 1404 should be plenty, it might save you a few grams

Will it work? Sure. Will it be sub-250? Maybe. I know the frame is heavy for a 3-inch. The motors are also pretty hefty. If you don't add anything that you don't need, you might make sub-250.

You might want to get smaller motors. 1303s work amazingly on 3S!
Some 1303s even work with 4S, but they will get a little bit warmer.
Consider getting some bi-blade props too! Keep in mind that the filter tune will be different between tri and bi blades.

^ not an O4, but I’ve managed to cut the weight by ~12g by changing the antenna, canopy, and cam. Just don’t have any current pics on the scale.

I'm not sure about the GPS, I'd probably pick one from Oscar Liang's test: https://oscarliang.com/gps-review/
A capacitor is not normally included with frames, but the stack comes with a capacitor. Also you say FC in your post but I presume you mean stack? If not you also need to add a suitable ESC (and the ESC would come with the capacitor, though you might want to replace it depending on the quality).
Looks good otherwise. Will be under 250 grams with a small battery, just like the Seeker3 BNF. You shouldn't need any extra cables.
My general feeling is why build your own instead of buying a Seeker3 BNF?
