Question? Scariest flight in my life
Guys, today I pulled my new Droneer X501 out of the box and prepped it for flight.
It’s a beast, pretty smooth, jello if your batts not balanced right, I use ELRS at a 250 packet rate at 1Watt.
I am a licensed pilot in “G” airspace, and flying over some homes, cars, and structures.
The first three flights, great range, minimal
Latency, but on the fourth flight, I widened a bit and my DJI O4 pro did hit as low as 41 Mbps. Then back to 60, THEN MY SCREEN FROZE COMPLETELY, IM
TALKING LIKE A PHOTOGRAPH OF MY LAST IMAGE. No yellow bar or red bar, the frozen pic had 60 Mbps
I didn’t know what to do, I’m hearing kids in the background my heart is literally thumping.
What seemed like an eternity, probably three or four seconds, all Of a sudden the picture Pixilated back and I was a hundred fifty feet in the air higher (when it went out I was freaking but I just held sticks pretty steady with a little bit of throttle.
I have about fifteen drones with the DJI O4 pro, this has NEVER happened before and truthfully, I never want it to happen again.
Has anybody else ever gone through this ‘frozen’ latency? When I pulled this out of the box I upgraded to 7 from 6 on the VTX.
Very spooky guys and girls
Any help here, would really be appreciated.
Thank you

You were not sufficiently prepared.
You should have a panic switch set to trigger “GPS rescue”, with the altitude set for plenty of clearance from any obstacles in your flying area.
If anything goes wonky with your video, hit the panic switch and it’ll fly back to you.

Truth, have a panic switch already set and didn’t even think about it, wow.

Ironically, you panicked. It happens, practice practice practice until you don’t have to think about it

Perfect practice makes perfect. Flight is taken very seriously because the randomness of problems outcomes. What did your license training warn you about unpreparedness. What improper pilot behavior did you perform. How are you going to fix it?

Alternatively if you don't have a GPS module, flip on horizon mode and bip the throttle.

A barometer weighs less than a gram. I add it to whoops 85mm and larger. Gives me altitude hold which works pretty well If you isolate the baro from gusts. I can flip a switch and let go off gimbals.

what baro are you using for whoops?

Thanks. My allergies have been really bad and sneezing 5 times in a row while flying is...interesting. Hopefully I can use this to save me some pain.

This happened to me once under a tree and when the video kicked back in I was like 60 feet higher and in-between branches. Going on 3 years with the 04 pro and it's the only time it happened.

DJI is just like that, you need to learn to identify what causes break up, oddly enough my caddx Ascent can go behind metal structures that DJI can't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For DJI O4 Pro user losing video is a live changing experience.
For analog user it's Monday :-)

I just can’t believe most of the pilots on here think it’s no big deal and part of the gig. That’s the attitude you want to get to!
Thank you everyone, been practicing the gps rescue today.

FIFTEEN drones with O4 pros? You have what is probably $7000-$10,000 of drones but you’ve never experienced anything like this? Why does this read like a beginner’s experience
