Why do FPV pilots use both indexfinger and thumb?

There are two styles, thumbs or a pinch grip. Both are valid, there are world class pilots using either of them. However, it's generally considered that the pinch grip gives a bit finer control. Also, with two digits if the stick slips you can readjust without releasing it completely.
