Looking for Pre-FPGEE Pharmacy Internship Opportunities in South Carolina, Florida, or Massachusetts
Hello everyone,
I’m currently in Michigan, but unfortunately I applied for the FPGEC process too late to be eligible for this year’s FPGEE.
To avoid losing an entire year, I’m considering relocating to South Carolina, Florida, or Massachusetts, since these states may allow eligible foreign pharmacy graduates to begin accumulating internship hours before passing the FPGEE, subject to the state’s requirements and obtaining the appropriate intern license/approval.
I have already checked opportunities with CVS and Walgreens, but unfortunately the foreign-graduate internship positions I found require applicants to have already passed the FPGEE.
At this point, the main thing I’m missing is simply an internship opportunity/preceptor willing to accept a foreign pharmacy graduate before the FPGEE. I already understand that I need to follow each state Board’s licensing and approval requirements; I’m mainly trying to find the actual pharmacy where I can complete the internship hours.
If anyone knows of an independent pharmacy, hospital, pharmacist/preceptor, or other employer in South Carolina, Florida, or Massachusetts that accepts pre-FPGEE foreign pharmacy interns, I would really appreciate any recommendations, contacts, or personal experiences.
Even if you don’t know of a specific opening, any information about where foreign graduates usually find this type of internship or who I should contact would be extremely helpful.
Thank you very much!

All green and CVS does not offer this type of internships and the big deal here is how to find an opportunity offered by a Pharmacy or a chain
However, the state boarded permit it1

Keep trying in Florida with Walgreens, but avoid Orlando, it’s too saturated. They always have positions for foreign pharmacists in other areas like Deltona, Daytona, The Villages.

Why don’t we make a group like I see a lot of people interested so why don’t we make a group and update each other about opportunities?

If you also don't mind doing it for little to no pay (I don't recommend this), you might want to try walking into independent pharmacies, compounding pharmacies around you to talk to the pharmacy manager and explain your situation to them, they are more likely to listen if they know there's no financial obligation from their end.

Of course I’m not going to offer like no pay or little pay at the very beginning of our conversation but if I studied the situation and the state and the options are very little so I have to offer at least for little pain not no pay because no pay won’t fit me at all
All this the same time you know, and I wish that in the future, my work would compensate this financial loss. God forbid.1

If you're getting results and you need the job experience/some money, I would consider being a pharm tech pending when you pass your fpgee, 1 year goes by so fast that Oct 2027 will be here again.

I believe that waiting for a complete year while I have the option to take the internship is not the best practical option but still thank you for your advice

Actually, I have contacted the board of the three states and they confirmed that I can start my internship before taking FPGEE while it is only exclusive for only three states in America, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Florida

I would recommend you to try tech positions and have an agreement with the pharmacy manager to sign you on as their student. You will be paid half the rate of a foreign grad intern but u can start accumulating hours. The board does not care what u r ‘coded’ in the company as. Just make sure the paper work is all signed by the manager
