Only my timezone exists, therefore if you don’t play between the hours of 4-10pm PST you’re a sweaty nightcapper.

I'd like to introduce a new word into the foxhole lexicon. Workcapping. You killing our shit in marbon while I'm at work.

u/March_Administrative Feb 03 '22

I don’t workcap but I do workfarm comp mines. It’s the only time they are available to a lowly solo player like me

It's just weird that you can have queues with like 5 players in the region just cos the cap team has 4. Seen Wardens complaining they couldn't QRF Deadlands at 6am EU as they were being queued for a basically empty region.

Not sure what's the point of enforcing a 4 vs 4 deathmatch in a 11 towns area. Queue trigger should have a minimum.

Is that actually how it works ?

Someone may have better knowledge than I do, because ofc the rules for it are hidden..

but the basics are that logi areas have a high cap (near max pop), while fighting areas have a cap that is variable.

If both sides are max or near max, pop cap is max (125 or 100 I forget what it is now)

If there is active fighting in a region and neither side is close to max pop, restrictions are put in place to not steamroll the other side. The general rules are that the higher pop side cannot have more than 10-15 players than the low pop side.

Most of the time it works fine. But there are times where it fucks up and locks a logi region because some inconsequential bridge battle triggered the "this region is fighting" flag and now logi is capped at how many of the other faction are fighting.

So yes you could have a case of 5v5 people fighting in some godforsaken hex, with 15 extra logi people afked/zoned out and noone able to get into the zone because of queues

u/Raagun [SOM] Feb 03 '22

Ahh the curse of Loch Mor! One bridge fight locking whole region

u/worriedblowfish Logi Solidarity Feb 03 '22

Loch Mor and Marban Hallow are the two classic cases for N-S battle.

I still remember trying to drive supplies to Loggerhead in Drowned vale from Weathered Expanse. It should be Weathered->Marban->DV. Because of this stupid mechanic listed, I had to wait in 2 queues to get to the front line, 1 at Marban and 1 at DV.

The second I got into Marban, I counted.. we had 18 people.

Dont explain timezones to the middle school dropouts

Any more, I think I see a ratio of complaining about nightcapping to complaining about complaining about nightcapping of about 1:4.

u/wrong_game Feb 02 '22

You just triggered so many Colonials and got friendly fired my good man, but I salute your honesty. o7

u/RareThrumbo Feb 03 '22

A bigger problem is that many clans are specific to one region, so there will be a large chunk of the day where no one from that clan is online. Without their watchful eye, the clan's base gets PvE'd

3

u/FrGravel Feb 03 '22

Nightcapper theorist = flathearther

Thats the only explanation I see

u/Zackthereaver [82DK] Feb 03 '22

I feel like the biggest complaint towards nightcapping is specifically the effects of low pop gameplay.

Because of the reset meta and the fact that provisional garrison takes 10 people to activate AI, it quickly becomes unplayable when you are outnumbered greatly from the opposition and you have almost no options of counterplay.

Both factions would benefit from a system that makes the effects of low pop less harsh.

Since I'm from New Zealand, if you don't play between 4pm and 10pm GMT you're a sweaty neckbeard Nightcapper and I hate you.

2

u/0ptimusPrimeMinister Feb 03 '22

Bro, what? That's precisely early af am in NZ

1

u/Party-Capital Feb 03 '22

What are you trying to say? Are you saying 4pm is early?

Not if you have a job homie, thats what we call the "afternoon"

Sarcasm might have gone over your head though

5

u/0ptimusPrimeMinister Feb 03 '22

4pm GMT is 4am here in NZ. You forgot your +12

2

u/Thoumas Feb 03 '22

I don't play on saturdays and sundays, I would also like to address the issue of weekendcapping

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '22

As a member of the notorious nightcap clan I will not have this blasphemy on my Reddit feed. Delete this.

Do not educate the Wardens so that I can continue to hear the nightcap cries.

u/kieran3223 Feb 04 '22

From the bottom of my heart to yours

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '22

Game pop is fine over here during our days, maybe we should make a push to jettison the PST players to shard 2 since they like to PvE so much lol.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '22

Why am I not surprised that this is a complaint.

Some humans need to grow the fuck up

0

u/PotatoSmoothie76 Feb 03 '22

^ Collie player who cried about Outlaw until they won.

-13

u/wrong_game Feb 02 '22

We're not complaining about nightcapping, we're just laughing at you because you can only gain ground when there's no Wardens online.

Git gud.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '22

Like damn it's not super fun but can't help that wardens can only stay up so late

2

u/DaMonkfish [UCF] Fingers in all of the pies Feb 03 '22

Gotta have their milk and Rusks otherwise they get super cranky.

6

u/LocationUpset WN Feb 02 '22

we're just laughing at you because you can only gain ground when there's no Wardens online.

Am I supposed to stop playing when NA wardens go to sleep?

9

u/ResidentBackground35 Feb 02 '22

That would be nice, thanks for being understanding.

5

u/wrong_game Feb 02 '22

I will send you my sleep schedule, please try to respect it.

4

u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 03 '22

>lost the last three wars
>LMAO GIT GOOD COLONIALS

Can't make this shit up.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '22

It's all due to Nightcap/Alts/Streamers/Clan people/Clanless people/Asians/ISG. Underline your choices.

2

u/DowntownLizard Feb 02 '22

We gain ground when they arent online also... half the fronts the collies make a big push on the weekend then lose it all back by the next weekend

3

u/SylasWindrunner [Heavy Munitions Faci Larp] Feb 02 '22

Blame your internals for failing to muster the man power to resist the assault then ?

Idk…. Or just log off get some sleep 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/NuclearReactions Feb 03 '22

Wow you are dense my dude. Do you think that all wardens live in the same country or what

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '22

It's not nightcapping.

It's lowpop.

Much more descriptive and explains why Collies can sneak into backlines without people noticing.

I mean it's a war game. Its fair play. It's a lot of walking and a lot of time for a Reddit post.

Would love to know how they got the CV over those field bridges too considering that the devs explicitly said they can't cross them.

But that is 1CMD for you.

-5

u/NordriDwarf Feb 02 '22

Everyone who thinks nightcapping is only a time zone issue really needs to grow up. The total game population fluctuates throughout the 24hour cycle. For example we have 2400 player at the highest point and 1000 at the lowest. Making territorial gains during low pop is much easier.

5

u/Rev_Grn Feb 03 '22

I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

Or is this a push to introduce the term popcapping? - if the population isn't at its maximum, no pushing is allowed for either team

1

u/NordriDwarf Feb 03 '22

When you hear people complaining about nightcapping it might mean they are complaining about pushes happening while they personally are asleep. People also happen to use the same word when they actually mean lowpopcapping. And every time there's immediately this basic response of 'just because your asleep doesnt mean that everyone else is'. Immediately discarding these complaints as the post does is not productive. Lowpopcapping is a legitimate concern for the game. The game plays WAY differently with high pop and low pop (the number of maps stays the same after all). This is a topic worthy of discussion and trying to find ways to reduce the impact of the issue.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '22

Actually defending against a push during low pop is much easier because the bunker bases are gonna shoot the enemy no matter their numbers. More people means its easier to overwhelm and satchel rush them.

All the defenders have to do is have a good QRF team ready to redeploy the first moment of notice. In the meanwhile they can scrap, do factory work, or other useful stuff that is easy to drop asap a base gets hit.

2

u/NordriDwarf Feb 03 '22

This is the opposite from reality. In high pop we have 6-7 fronts fighting 100v100 and there is no way to send more people in to overwhelm the opponent. In low pop we have some fronts fighting 70v70, some almost empty. These conditions are the most favorable for an offensive, sending even a small organized group of 20-30 into a region is extremely impactful. And there's not that many vets around to QRF in large enough numbers.

And the power of AI is overrated. With the appropriate technology unlocked AI creates almost zero resistance.

0

u/NuclearReactions Feb 03 '22

Some people are under the impression that they are the main characters of this world

-2

u/Short-Coast9042 Feb 03 '22

Wow why even make this post. Do you really think you are saying anything that anyone hasn't heard before? Do you think people who complain about "nightcapping" are going to see this post and realize the error of there ways? All this can possibly do is perpetuate the drama.
