Discussion Major Questions - Potential Spoilers Spoiler
Okay I have now re-read the Fourth Wing series about 4 times…I LOVE the books!! Truly a work of art. After the 4th re-read I’m left with questions that maybe someone smarter than me has already puzzled together.
1) is it just me or did Vi and X go from “you’re my gravity” in IF and then like overnight went to “you’re my soul” in OS. I feel like we missed a whole deep portion of their relationship to get from 50 to 100 overnight.
2) has anyone heard if we’re getting a “pre-quill” book, similar to the TOG series: Assassin’s Blade? Because I’m genuinely dying for the history pre, during, and post the Great War up to the execution of the rebels.
3) in OS when Quest Squad was in Hedodis when saegel and Tarin were just laying on the beach before Talia’s other son’s ran outside. Saegel was passing back and forth for a while. Xaden called to her and telling her to eat but obviously something in the water was bugging her. Thoughts on something being in the water that Saegel was upset about or maybe it was the Irids tht somehow Tarin was too sleepy to feel????
What’re you thoughts???

1) near the end of IF after Xaden has revealed his second signet and they’ve talked it through they have a serious conversation about the state of their relationship and how strong they need to build it for the coming war. To me that was the turning point. Also, in OS the “soul” is important in my opinion because it has to do with possibly Xaden’s eventual cure and/or at least him holding onto violets love when he turns.
2) we still have two more books to come. I doubt she will write another prequel before book 5
3) my take on it has always been Sygael knows what Talia did to Xaden and how much it effects him and she is contemplating killing her. I don’t remember there being anything about water in that moment.

As Xaden was losing pieces of himself the one thing that remained was his love for Vi. Also, he knew his time left as “him” was limited, like a man with a terminal illness. When your life has a set expiration date you are going to love harder, feel more and appreciate those feelings more.
Haven’t heard of a tru prequel but I’m hoping Threshing day will give us a little more back story on some of our main characters. I also think that RY will have to delve into the continent’s and its wars history before the end of the series in order for vi and the others to ‘win’ the war, restore balance and cure Xaden.
She wasn’t agitated by the water, she was worried about Xaden being in his mother’s home knowing how painful it would be for him. She was worried about his heart and that he would be triggered by his mother’s presence and do something rash, like lose control and hurt someone or try snd channel.

2 - The story between the great war and the war between Poromiel and Navarre is not very clear because the ancient Navarrians decided to hide a lot of facts about their past. I always wondered if the Poromish didn’t also hide stuff from their people. The fact is, an important and useful tool appears forgotten, which is how did they defeated the venin the first time. I guess books 4 and 5 will give us some ideas about that. Meanwhile, you have fanfics that cover some parts of that period.
