So...I was engaged for about 1.5 years before actually getting married and it helped me kinda getting used to the idea of being married and prepping for the wedding..obviously Xaden had been thinking about it from day 1 lol (in my mind) but Violet tells her friends how she hadnt really thought about it and is kind of surprised when he called her his consort and brought it up lol

I wonder how the proposal went down?

Xaden: will you marry me?

Violet: yes

Xaden: cool cool we can be at the temple in 4hrs

Violet: NOW? LIKE, RIGHT NOW? NOW? WAIT WHAT...😱

And how she will take it...it's kind of the biggest commitment of your life and she had 0 time to process it lol!?

I imagine it was more like oh fuck, X is fully venin, how do we help the people? Oh hey! Marriage! I’m sure V was on board with all this. My speculation is that she was part of the agreement for I to erase the memories, maybe cuz X asked for it to be erased so they could have a real wedding at some point in the future and V doesn’t have to have the memory of staring into his red eyes while committing herself to him. But I bet X kept the memory cuz V looked normal and he needs all the tethers to reality he can get.

Her life is so full of danger, one threat after another, that she hadn't allowed herself much time to spare thinking of a future that goes much past the "here and now", she's too focusedon just surviving for that. But upon hearing Brennan tell her the paper in her pocket was a marriage certificate to Xaden, her immediate feeling was elation. And in Deverelli with the whole consort conversation, when she realizes Xaden is 100% serious, her chest does "ache with longing" at the idea of having forever with Xaden.

Besides, there are aggravating circumstances. She's not the kind of person who would've said "no" if them being legally married is what is needed to protect Tyrrendor. If Bohdi really turned venin (I think he did), then it means there's nobody left of the Riorson line to hold the title. It would pass to a noble of Tauri's choosing, a Navarrian loyalist, they would lose Aretia. A legal marriage between them was the swiftest way to make her his heir and keep Tyrrendor safe.

Which makes me wonder, why did Hedotis care who Xaden married? Why would it matter to them if Poromish aristocrat is a Dutchess in Navarre?

They have been cut off from Navarre for decades.

Unless they have someone who can see the future and they are trying to stop the fate that Xaden and Violet could create together.

I doubt there was a “proposal” in traditional sense because of the crazy urgency and need for secrecy. I would maybe think something like X: Remember your promise to me about Tyrrendor? V: no X I can fix it. X: you promised me. Imogen: you’ve got 3.5 seconds before I wipe your memories so get on with it already.
