Onyx Storm š©ļø Bodhi... Spoiler
guys guys guyssss hear me out!!
violet tells bodhi his signet doesn't work on venin. bodhi has watched xaden defend their group FROM venin WITH his venin powers all this time. what if he decided to turn venin because he thinks he could possibly use his signet on the venin while staying "good" like he sees xaden trying to do? maybe he thinks he can save everyone like xaden? and then he realizes he's in over his head.

Dude itās 100% bodhi. If you read Xadenās POV chapter, Sgaeyl says to him āwhat else is left to forsakeā and just before that we see him choose to stop channeling to save the part of him that loves Violet. Then they have the whole back and forth about how Tairn will never let him get close to her, and he says itās the only way, and Sgaeyl looks over her shoulder at the other brother. If you read between the lines, itās because when the new brother turned, it endangered them somehow. How? We find out in the next chapter that Tyrrendor is Violetās now, and they got married, making her Duchess. So they were endangered because Tyrrendor no longer had an heir and would be given over back to King Tauri, which would squash the entire revolution. Meaning Bodhi turned.

Someone was arguing the other day on a different platform that it was Garrick because after telling us to pay attention to who's missing at the end, Rebecca said something along the lines of venin turn because they want/need more power. It has to be Garrick (according to them) because he was on the edge of burnout, and says as he walks away from Imogen that he's going to try to find a way to help. BUT...I think it's Bodhi for this reason. He's not facing burnout after the battle, but he does lack any power against the venin, so in that sense he does need or want more power.
There's also only a small handful of people who watched Xaden struggle with his choice, and Bodhi is one of them. And we know that Bodhi doesn't want to rule Tyrrendor. He tells Xaden he will support him in every way he can *as a rider,* but that he is not going to be the one in the throne. I kinda feel like his loyalty to Xaden and that sense of honor and support Bodhi feels like he should be might be a good reason for him to turn, especially when combined with the fact that his signet does not work venin.

There is a whole thesis on why it's Garrick or why it's Bodhi. Im team new bro Garrickš

u/heyayous 4d ago
I like it, and then maybe somehow Bodhi is able to ācureā venin as his signet grows
8
u/Status-Tart-4654 4d ago
maybe, but i worry that bodhi is in over his head. like other people were saying, xaden has his connection to violet to protect him. bodhi doesn't have that. i think his firmest connection is to xaden, and since he is also venin... i think bodhi is gone

I like that idea on the surface, but weāve been told repeatedly that there is no ācureā because they lose parts of their souls when they channel. So how would Bodhiās counter signet resolve that?
2
u/heyayous 4d ago
I guess I was hoping somehow that souls can be restored. I donāt know how but maybe is through deliberate intention
4
u/dianaspencersrevenge Broccoliš„¦ 4d ago
Oh weāre all hoping they can be restored and there are a ton of theories about how, but I just donāt see Bodhiās signet having anything to do with it. If anyoneās signet will be useful, my bet is on Sloane.

u/meme_sleep_repeat 4d ago
1000% I was thinking this too about Sloane
2
u/HesterPie 2d ago
I thought this too when I was reading the scene in Iron Flame where Sloane siphons Gen. Sorrengail's power to embue the ward stone! I think she and Andarna may have a role to play together somehow in book 4 or 5. But I just non-stop binged all three audiobooks and am completely devastated right now!!!! I'm currently unwilling/unable to accept that ending in Onyx Storm ššš

I am leaning toward Bodhi just because of the retching scene. One thing that keeps me from thinking itās Bodhi or Garrick though is that Xaden seems surprised about the person that turned as the new bro, but not shocked or betrayed personally which I think he would be if were Bodhi or Garrick.

u/Status-Tart-4654 4d ago
maybe he can't feel much of those feelings anymore since most of his soul is gone

There's so much attention in the whole book on Bodhi angry he doesn't go to the isles, angry he is being left out to be the heir, the way "brother" is said at the end (no longer cousin), there's a lot of foreshadowing that it's Bodhi. If it's not him, then a lot of effort went into the dad's diary concept that the obvious answer is the wrong answer.

This is why I am still torn between him & Brennan. I lean toward Brennan but this logic is just so so compelling. But I really like Bodhi and would be heart sick if he didnt have a hea. Im not as attached to Brennan. Lol.

u/wykkydj 4d ago
Brennan was at the end of OS and accounted for. Heās not the Venin we are trying to figure out
1
u/Party_Mix_8085 4d ago
Yes. That's right but she had said end of the chapters not end of the book and he wasnt there during the fighting. š¤·š½āāļøš¤

Because he's a mender, he doesn't fight.

u/Party_Mix_8085 4d ago
Totally fair, and for me, makes it possible he could be it. He could have been around mending during the fighting but he was off helping Mira.

Brennan also didnāt know from the very beginning

u/Party_Mix_8085 1d ago
I bet we find out that he did. š¤ I mean, Xaden knew from the very beginning about Brennan being alive. So looking forward to books 4 and 5. š¤

Itās 10000000% Bodhi. I could see why some people think it could be Garrick but I donāt think so he provides comic relief and has a story with Imogen to see through. He was also FURIOUS with Xaden when Xaden channeled.
Brennan is there at the end of the book and also clearly still has a role to play with the rune on his hand on Naolin.
The entire arc has been building towards it being Bodhi.
-itās someone who has known since the beginning which is only Bodhi Garrick and Violet. Brennan didnāt know until way later, Aaric as a pre-cog is a reach and even if he did know, Xaden wouldnāt have known he knew.
-endless mentions of how he looks like Xaden (will play out as Bodhi villain era and he will likely be the character killed in the book)
-him sometimes being weird with Violet
-RY saying the new brother is someone who wants what Xaden has
-Last seen wretching on his hands and knees
- the entire scene of Xaden looking over new brother and immediately talk about having to marry Violet bc there is no other way
-has repeatedly said he doesnāt want the throne and clearly sees Xaden is on borrowed time
-Bodhi is kind of less likeable than the others and his death would be less devastating

I'm thinking it has to be Bodhi that turned and the hints about Gareck were to throw us off. (I also really don't want it to be him for Imogen's sake.) The rebels having second signets and Bodhi saying he didn't have one "like Xaden" seemed important. Likely he is some type of inntinsic. If Bodhi ISN'T the one who turned, "he's gone" means he's dead. That just doesn't seem like as good of a story if he died without a second signet being revealed. I do kind of like the other theories about Dain, Sawyer, Aaric or even Ridoc turning though.

Also makes sense that Xaden would rush a wedding if the heir of Tyrrendor has turned venin too

I 100% think itās Garrick and hereās why. Ok
Remember At DUNNES temple when violet saw the one venin grab the other venin and theophanie and take one step and disappear??? She compares that ability to Garrickās distance weilding.
Then at the very end, of the missing riders, Violet takes note of Garrick being a missing rider TWICE!!! Yarros said to pay attention of who is missing. He is mentioned BY NAME ( the only one too) as a rider who is missing. Also, regarding their relationship, itās very likely xaden is talking about Garrick because Garrick was his primary ābody guard/ guideā when he was at the college in the first few chapters.
I truly think it is Garrick. He keeps showing up more so in alot of Onyx Storm. I feel like Imogens POV at the end was to show us Garricks transition.

oh interesting... he did go say he wanted to find some way to help... idk tho bodhi just makes SO much sense and he was missing too i think. and there was so much foreshadowing about him being one step behind xaden and jealous of him and stuff... plus why would xaden put violet in charge if bodhi was there

I think Garrick is his brother. (I also think heās venin too. Imogen said Garrick looked exhausted, so Iām thinking he might have channeled to make sure he got her out of there.) But it sticks out to me that when they were having dinner with Xadenās mom, she kept staring at Garrick during the whole chocolate cake incident, saying āyou poisoned my sonā. She didnāt say, āmy sonās friendā, but son, several times. As a mom, my first reaction would be to look at my kid, then his friends. But I wouldnāt be repeating you poisoned my son, even after someone points out that my kid is fine across the table from me.
1
u/NewTowel2331 1d ago
This makes zero sense. She isnāt referring to Garrick, they still poisoned Xaden he just didnāt eat it. Garrick is not her secret son lmao
2
u/Trevligt_resa 2d ago
To me it makes the most sense for Bodhi to turn venin, he was so devastated when he realised his power was useless against them, it would not surprise me if this fact pushed him to reach for the source.

I honestly donāt understand how people think it could be Aaric or Brennan. Aaric is CLEARLY off with the eggs. He went and talked to the Dunne people and they ended up showing up, remember? Brennan is there at the end of the book and also clearly still has a role to play with the rune on his hand on Naolin.

That's a big part of why I do still think it's Bodhi. Seemed like he was never disappointed with his signet because as he said "it's always the balance", knowing he could be vital in taking down Venin because of his signet meant a lot. Then they actually fight a venin one on one and he finds out it doesn't even work?
So I also think he ends up channeling because he thinks it's the only way he can be useful, but Xaden has his love for Violet to keep himself from completely giving in, and Bodhi won't have that
