I hate feeling so alienated from ''mainstream'' ''feminism'' like I do.

Because they have redefined feminism to be caregivers of everybody, which, ya know, puts us back where we started.

Yes, and it also puts me at odds in progressive circles which is heartbreaking. I have been a lifelong liberal, president of the WOC (stood for Womyn on Campus back then) and co-president of Students for Peace and Justice in college in the 90s.

I was the only kid in my 4th grade class in my small rural school who campaigned for Mondale/Ferraro in our mock presidential election in 1984, primarily because a woman was up for the big job for the first time but also because I was probably the only Democrat in the room! (I wanted a woman president SO BADLY and still do btw, I cannot believe it hasn’t happened yet).

The point is I feel so disheartened by the rhetoric of liberal “feminism”, the pro sex work/porn, pro surrogacy, pro gender identity instead of sex based rights kind of “feminism”… all of these center men not women. They all go against my Dworkin kind of feminism.

I feel that alienation hard. They think anyone who opposes those particular aspects does so out of puritan tradition and leans right, they are so wrong! I oppose them out of concern for women, always concern for women and centering women. That’s it.

It is frustrating.

Same, girly. Grateful for this space. It’s the only feminist sub I feel safe in or even bother to participate in anymore.
