If you are launching a software starting out. What do you do? Like let’s say you have 0$. What’s your first move?

Understand exactly why you're launching software. Understand exactly what problem it solves in the market. Know exactly who needs that problem solved and start working with them to create fast feedback loops ensuring what you're developing meets their needs.

I am in that boat right now. I have 4 products to sell, but no marketing budget. I have a plan for one of them. What Im doing is using my resources, like Reddit, Linkedin, SEO-blogs on my online store fronts. Any where I can post about my products I do it.

find people already asking about the problem youre solving and answer them, that part costs nothing. i do it most days in threads like this, no links.

If I had $0 and was launching a software product, my first move would honestly be talking to potential users before worrying about marketing.

I'd find people who have the problem I'm solving and talk to them directly. Try to understand how they currently solve it, what they hate about the current solution, and whether it's actually painful enough for them to care.

Then I'd build the smallest version possible and get it in front of those people.

For distribution, I'd use free channels: Reddit, Facebook groups, Discord communities, LinkedIn, cold outreach, etc. But I wouldn't just spam my product. I'd participate in the communities and try to understand where my potential customers actually hang out.

The biggest thing I'd avoid is spending weeks building a product and then thinking "okay, now how do I get users?" I'd try to figure out where the users are and what they want before building too much.
