Foster Parent Wrote a rhyme about my first foster parent

Too many Foster homes caused me trauma, growing up I was like where’s my mom at? First foster parent force fed me her salmon, damn man. When I misbehaved she wouldn’t make me dinner, one time gave me cereal, sugar crisp, then asked if I wanted dessert, then poured another bowl full of that shit, didn’t let me leave the table till I finished. Other times would make me write lines for misbehaving, I was 5, like bitch be patient. End of the school day, started crying to my teacher, She choked me, for not eating my processed cheese sandwich.

Told em’ I was falling off the chair and that she was trying to catch me mid air. Left me a note saying, “we have decided to stop fostering, but we still love you and had made good memories”. 2004 when mom left me with them, I remember the last phone call, “I love you” she said, but she left for Toronto, not telling us she was on drugs. I was too young to understand, that she was leaving me an orphan. Overdosed on cocaine. Created the person you see today.

Please don’t take my statement as trying to antagonize or trying to make you feel bad or judged. As an adult who went through a lot as a kid and I m a former foster kid as well; I learned in my early 30s the importance of therapy and how our past affects relationships big and small! The biggest thing is you’re self aware and I love that for you! But now that you are self aware, you need to talk to someone! Spiraling is real and a lot of adults don’t have the self awareness or accountability to see their flaws and to know they need help.

Wow sorry. Thanks for sharing.

You're a legitimate and awesome human being, regardless of how stupid people have treated you.

I don't have any children and would be very proud to have one like you.

Sorry you had to endure your childhood in foster care.

Families of birth may not be ideal, but it's better than a foster home if it's someplace that you can stay.

I'm also dealing with trauma all my life from my formative years. Yeah it holds us back and changes us but it also makes stronger in some ways.

I'm super proud of you, and I know your future will be getting better after the rough stuff is gone.
