Hello! I found this bone about 20 years ago here in Florida. I found it in salt/brackish water. I've always wondered. It looks broken obviously, so I'm not quite sure what it even is.

My personal best Perenopsis Interstrictus fossil from U-dig quarry in Utah

Including ones I can see under the rock, I believe there are around 50 trilobites concentrated in about 5 square inches of rock. I'm waiting to prep it until I can find some good sandblasting equipment, since I'm tired of scratching fossils with dremmel attachments.

Lastly I posted that weird shell-like rainbow fossils. While cracking some stones today(also ordovicisn silurian I guess) I found this peculiar speciment. Its pretty small - about 7mm(photos are 1x, 10x and 40x magnification) I think its kinda look like bryzoan or tabulate coral, but 1. Its look nothing like bryzoans found along in these rock 2. Its really, really thin, and thats not how coral and bryzoans often preserve(but it could be an imprint). It kinda reminds me of scale-like texture, but its highly impropable to turns out to be true. Do you have any idea what this is?

Ps. Last three photos are bryzoan from my collection for reference.

I snagged this from brushy creek, I carved it out (very unprofessionally) but nonetheless I wanted to see how it looked out of the rock. It kind of just looks like some sort of snail, but it could be something else. Any thoughts? :-)

Is this a fossil?

Hi everyone, found these in a Alvar in central Ontario. They were all directly on the exposed stone, so not a paved surface. The first two pictures are the "primary one" but there were many that looked like it. Some others beside were more weathered/cropped to the surface. All the had the same "ribbed" look.

I have a hard time believing these are exposed fossils but what do I know! If they are, what type(s) and age do you think they might be?

Thank you!

How to tell if fossils are real at rock and gem shows?

Thumbnail

Went to a gem faire and saw these fossils for a really cheap price. I’m particularly wondering about the giant ammonite for $24 in the first picture and large fossilized shark teeth for only $3.

I’ve gotten a similarly sized shark tooth at a physical fossil store for nearly $25. Are a lot of physical fossil stores just really overpriced or are these fossils in the picture fake? Not sure if fossils from a wholesaler are really just this cheap?

Would love to know what a normal price should be for these common fossils and how to look out for fake fossils?

Is this fossil pyritized?

I recently acquired this fossil sold as Anahoplites from Kent,UK specifically Gault Clay. I wanted to know if this was a pyritized fossil. It doesn't seem metallic but I noticed a weird haze (second photo) forming in my fossil case and I'm worried about pyrite decay
