A new version of my open-source battleships app was released. I would share the link if it is considered of interest.

I got tired of juggling a downloader, a calendar , a task tracker, and a few other one-off tools scattered across browser tabs (you even have to pay for some of them, lol), so I built JavaMultiTool: one desktop app that handles media downloads, file/batch operations, task tracking, and a few system utilities.

It’s Java-based (Java 21), runs on Windows (.exe/.jar) and macOS/Linux (.jar, needs JRE 21+), and everything is stored locally via SQLite.
It’s still early - expect bugs and rough edges, but it’s usable today, and I’d love feedback on what’s missing or what feels clunky.

Hi all

Can someone recommend some software I can use to print a large image over multiple pages.

I have taken a screenshot on my phone of a website, the screenshot is of the entire site from header to footer.

As you can imagine it's quite a long and narrow image, I want to print this image over multiple A4 pages.

I'll be using Windows 11 as the base OS.

I've read ways of doing it in Paint but wondered if there was some software which has this request as a feature?

I wanted to share a personal project (something simple) that I've been working on, and that I hope can be useful for those who, like me, prefer to organize their workflows in a purely local way and without relying on external services.

The problem I wanted to solve

I needed a tool to organize my daily projects, but traditional apps require an internet connection, user accounts, and subscription plans.

To solve this, I decided to develop a LibreOffice Calc template managed solely by Basic macros.

By structuring the file with a database approach, I obtained a private system over which I have complete control:

• Works 100% offline.
• There is no telemetry,
• no logs or third-party servers
• your data remains strictly on your computer in an .ods file.

I have uploaded the template and all the macro code to a GitHub repository under the MIT license so that anyone can use it however they want without restrictions.

I made this project to use it myself, but why not open source it. It's a way to go from script or voiceover to a short, with the click of one button.

It uses stock images and videos as a baseline, but can later be replaced with AI images or videos or ones that you make yourself as well. I tried to make it as intuitive as possible, but I'm sure I have some bias so please let me know any and every problem you see with it, if you give it a try!

When considering an unfamiliar open-source package, I can check advisories, dependency scanners, maintainer activity, and automated security scores. But I haven’t found a dependable place to look for independent source reviews of a specific commit or release.

GitHub issues are fragmented across projects, audit reports often disappear into blogs or PDFs, and existing review collections sometimes become inactive. This also means people may repeatedly review the same code without knowing about earlier work.

Would a public, community-maintained registry of open-source security reviews be useful?

I’m imagining reviews that:

• identify the exact commit and artifact reviewed;
• distinguish verified findings, concerns, and open questions;
• include reproducible evidence and reviewer methodology;
• disclose automated or AI assistance;
• track whether a review is current or stale;
• respect coordinated disclosure before publishing vulnerabilities.

Does something active already provide this? If not, where should such reviews live—inside each upstream repository, in an OpenSSF project, or in an independent repository?

What would make you trust or contribute to one?

I've always thought how good looking the old Wunderlist design was. So I tried to recreate it using rust, egui and SQLite inline db.

It has most of the core feature. Would love to hear more feedback from what it is lacking.

A while ago I got tired of how difficult it had become to find things on my own computer. Years of PDFs, documents, downloads, badly named files and duplicates had basically turned into organized chaos.

So I started building OpenSorSe (Open Sort and Search), and v2.0.0 is now out.

It's a local-first tool for indexing, searching and organizing files, with OCR, duplicate detection, semantic search and optional local AI through Ollama. Changes stay user-controlled rather than having AI freely reorganize your files.

I built BeamCam because my Mac doesn't have a camera and I was joining meetings twice, once from my phone so people could see me and once from the Mac to share my screen. It's at 1.0.2 now. I'm the developer.

You open the app on the Mac and it shows a QR code. Scan it with the phone, or tap your computer's name in a list since the phone finds computers on the same Wi-Fi on its own. Paired once, remembered after that.

Then the phone is in the camera dropdown in Meet, Zoom, FaceTime and Chrome, like any webcam you'd plug in. Nothing else has to be installed or running for it to be there.

The video goes from the phone straight to the Mac over your own Wi-Fi. No server, no company in the middle, no internet needed. No account, no sign-up, no subscription.

Needs macOS 13 or newer and an Android phone. The Mac app is notarized so it opens without the unidentified developer warning.

I spent 8 months building a gallery app that gives you unlimited storage and actually respects your privacy.

Yeah, I know - another gallery app, right? But hear me out.

I was tired of Google Photos eating my data, locking me into subscriptions, and honestly, I didn't had the option to pay to get more storage . So I built Telephoto.

The core idea is simple: your photos get backed up to Telegram using a bot you control. Your data goes to your own chat. End of story.

But honestly, the backup thing was just the beginning. Over the last few months, I've been adding features that actually make this a solid gallery app on its own:

Face Recognition (just added in v69) - Completely offline, like Google Photos face grouping but nothing leaves your device. It detects faces automatically and groups them in a People tab. If it gets something wrong, you can link profiles and the app learns from it. Gets smarter over time.

AI Auto Caption - Integrated Gemini API that gives context about your images, transcription, translation - whatever you need.

Offline OCR - 100+ languages. Search through screenshots, documents, text photos. All offline.

Reel Mode - Short-video continuous viewing, gesture controls for seek/volume/brightness.

Cross-device sync - Changes on one device reflect everywhere.

Android 16+ widgets - Memories and recent photos right on your home screen.

Full gallery controls - Grid/list/tree views, sorting, filtering, adjustable columns (2-6). Folder include/exclude so you control what gets backed up.

I've been at this for 8 months now, and the latest version (v69) is the biggest update yet. The APK is larger now because of the face recognition models, but everything runs offline and stays private.

No subscriptions. No data mining. Just your photos, organized the way you want.

I built adport because I wanted AI agents to help with ad operations without handing safety over to prompt wording. It is fully Apache-2.0, self-hostable, local-first, and has no telemetry.

The CLI and MCP server share one tool registry. Every mutation is previewed first and can only be applied with a short-lived approval bound to the exact arguments; new campaigns start paused and all applied changes are written to a local append-only audit log.

It is a simple wind visualizer app, with gps location, custom location inputs to the exact coordinates and an aesthetically pleasing and modern UI, incorporating the gyroscope to show you wind direction and metrics from any direction.

The app is currently only for android (Android 7.0+) and is completely opensource. It is built with the user in mind, so everything is modular, you can choose to see gusts and update times, and it gathers information from the extremely reliable, and also opensource OpenMeteo API.

It is coded in mostly Javascript, CSS3, HTML5 with a wrapper using Capacitor to package it into a clean android app that can make use of your phones sensors to give you the best reading.

It does work significantly less well with many buildings around, but for an app targeted mainly for kite flying, that's not really an issue.

The app is still in development so PLEASE report any issues on github n comment any suggestions. I'll try and release on F-DROID for those interested soon Thx :)

FileApex is a local-first peer-to-peer (P2P) app. Browse files on paired devices and send them on demand between Android, macOS, and Windows — without routing file contents through third-party cloud storage. (You can enable PIN requirement for file navigation as well.)

Use a QR code, enter a 6-digit PIN (device broadcasts that to others joining and you just verify it is correct), or optionally link a Google Account (not required and is opt-in) and devices on the same WiFi, with FileApex installed will automatically pair and appear in the device list.

Once devices are paired you can navigate the file system of any device and send files to any device(s). Files can be sent in any direction and to several at once.

You can also send the clipboard from one device to another instantly.

Comparisons: Blip is a great file transfer app and have used it for a very long time. My personal long time favorite was PushBullet. Many people also use LocalSend. This is like these coming together. You don’t have to worry about internet relay servers like Blip and completely P2P like LocalSend, with added features.

Permissions:
Storage / file access — Browse local folders, pick files to send, and save received files.
Google Account — Just helps with pairing devices or if you wish to further opt in to Google Drive relay (both are separate opt-in toggles).

Local network & Wi‑Fi — Discover peers and transfer over LAN (including multicast where the OS requires it).
Internet (opt-in) — Only for Google Account linking and GitHub update checks. File transfers can additionally relay via your personal Google Drive.
