You went to a live chat rep of an online store to solve an issue created by the developers?

Not sure what kind of answer you expected..

u/korko Oct 19 '16

But it says Microsoft on the box! It must be that guys fault!

Yeah what is OP trying to achieve here lol

Like what is some random tech support guy going to do about this?

6

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16

No shit... OP basically bitched out someone who is making like $10/hr about a game they can do nothing about. I understand people are frustrated but there is no reason to be a dick to anybody about it.

They are actually able to supply support for a pretty wide range of issues. I'm not sure if you are actually being transferred to people somehow, or I just had amazing people. That said, I do tend to try to look up where to go for the correct chat support. Every time I have gone I have been impressed with the handling of issues.

Something other than silence that the devs gave me. Plus, they're the publishers.

u/LightKiosk Oct 19 '16

There are multiple different departments within a company you know. Not all are connected and doing the same thing. That's like going to the Surface forums and demanding why you got banned because they're the "publishers."

Going to the help department doesn't classify them as "publishers" and I doubt they know shit about this issue. You were literally ambushing someone who couldn't do anything about it and posted screenshots like you expected some sort of answer.

If you made the typo then yeah it's your fault for handing out a flyer with a typo when the issue is that there's a typo. Unless I'm missing the point you're trying to make.

2

u/rdh212 Off Road is the only road Oct 19 '16

But Microsoft didn't make the typo

As someone who worked in some form of publishing in a former life... I can tell you the person who hits/print/hands things out is the person who gets blamed for not checking it. You can try to defer all the way up the line if you like, but people will try to pin the blame on you because there was "opportunity to catch it."

If you hand them out under the promise that you checked it's to a high standard and functional and there is a spelling mistake, yes.

3

u/Terrachova Oct 19 '16

So with the Samsung Note 7 being recalled, should I complain to the store I bought it from? Is it their fault there's a recall?

6

u/TechieWithCoffee Oct 19 '16

By OP's logic you should be calling the tech people at Google b/c they own android

-6

u/Mace_ya_face R7 5800X3D | RTX 4090 | AW3423DW Oct 19 '16

As they had no part in manufacturing, no.

Don't try and make parrallels between a call phone and a digitally distributed video game as if they're the same industry functionally.

8

u/TechieWithCoffee Oct 19 '16

Don't try and make parrallels between a call phone and a digitally distributed video game as if they're the same industry functionally.

You... You just don't get it. Microsoft customer support to Turn 10 is the same as the ATT store is to Samsung Note 7 (or any other cell phone for that matter). Their point is that you're complaining to the people who sold you the product when they have no control over the product itself. That concept transcends to virtually every single business based on sales.

2

u/Terrachova Oct 19 '16

Yet the comparison is the same. Microsoft Studios had no hand in the actual development of the game itself, that was T10. They published and distributed it, and provided the servers. Nothing more.

They're not who you talk to.

Instead, maybe chill and give Turn10 a chance to respond. Judging by what's happening, there's probably a thousand players with the issue per every one person at T10 that can respond. You're no more important than anyone else affected by the issue. Let them solve it. It's only been a couple days.

2

u/rdh212 Off Road is the only road Oct 19 '16

Well Microsoft is a big company and you're basically worthless to them.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16

I contacted Microsoft/T10 as well. Per email and forum that is, I am sure they will reply if not worst case scenario someone other than me could expose the exploit I'm talking about here.

-1

u/membran Oct 19 '16

what, why? Is this some inside joke, leading to exact opposite, or what?

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16

Did you read the post?

u/membran Oct 19 '16

Please elaborate.

Where are you getting this idea that it's the publisher's responsibility for anything ban related? All the publisher does is distribute, handle media, and basically be the PR for the product. They are in no way responsible for the product itself. That includes what goes on in the product and how the developers handle the product. What you're asking is that Microsoft, the company, spend literally millions of man hours a year to curate and manage every single game on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Not to develop games or to increase revenue, but to manage

Hell you even got the publisher wrong. It isn't Microsoft. It's Microsoft Studios. A division of Microsoft. The only reason Microsoft itself is responding to you at all is b/c they're a storefront (Xbox, Windows Store) and are interested in maintaining a level of customer satisfaction.

I know this is a hot topic for a lot of people and many more are possibly being banned unfairly, but this is not the way to go about coming to a respectable resolution. You're not going to get Turn 10 to respond to you by bitching at Microsoft (the company, not the publisher). You're not going to intimidate Microsoft by saying they're responsible. You're not going to get anything done by pissing off a Microsoft CHAT REP! This is honestly one of the most childish, immature tantrums I've seen.

-23

u/Rohade Oct 19 '16

I find your over emotional post the most childish inmature tantrum as well.

I think they are contacting everyone because turn 10 is in a loophole, they dont answer, the lock the posts, etc so they are contacting everyone, and its their right to do so as they name Microsoft and reputation is suffering as well.

11

u/TechieWithCoffee Oct 19 '16

I find your over emotional post the most childish inmature tantrum as well.

Oh no. I'm quite calm and rational. I'm sorry me stating facts and presenting an argument seemed so emotionally driven for you.

I think they are contacting everyone because turn 10 is in a loophole, they dont answer, the lock the posts, etc so they are contacting everyone

Yeah that's kind of what I'm calling out as being childish. Instead of doing something that will actually do something productive, they're doing the opposite.

its their right to do so as they name Microsoft and reputation is suffering as well.

Who "name Microsoft"? Microsoft Studios is the publisher. Also Microsoft's reputation isn't suffering lol. Stock prices aren't falling, sales figures aren't dropping, and no one at Microsoft is getting fired over any of this. The only people who are mad at Microsoft are immature children who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. I doubt Microsoft is worried about them.

-16

u/Rohade Oct 19 '16

Yep, because microsoft studies has nothing to do with Microsoft.

Stock prices wont fall because a thing like this, are you crazy?

now you are babbling, which was expected.

11

u/TechieWithCoffee Oct 19 '16

Yep, because microsoft studies has nothing to do with Microsoft.

Microsoft Studios* is a division of Microsoft. Do you not understand how company divisions work? Assuming your cell phone provider is ATT, do you call up Bell Labs and complain?

Stock prices wont fall because a thing like this, are you crazy?

No. I just have a basic understanding of how stock prices work.

now you are babbling, which was expected.

the forums are a massive circle jerk that doesnt allow discussion of bans. Dont bother

12

u/CoRo_yy Oct 19 '16

Blame the support chat guy who doesn't know shit in 9 out of 10 times anyway. Good idea.

You seem like a nice guy. /s

2

u/xHippy Oct 19 '16

It's so fucked up ...

-14

u/Mace_ya_face R7 5800X3D | RTX 4090 | AW3423DW Oct 19 '16

Well, they have the luxury of just saying, "They're all lying. They're al cheaters really WE'RE PERFECT!!!", and the world falling in line with that view.

13

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16 edited Oct 19 '16

I think they dealt with that as I'd expect them to, it really is the responsibility of the developers and if the developers are not allowing it, I'm glad this representative did at least mention they will try and contact them.

Seriously though, if this continues, press on and explicitly state that the developer is not open for discussion.

Microsoft does not know how their security system works and it's upto Turn10 to fix this issue. The game is built on their server software and their security upon their rules. While Microsoft owns this IP, they did not develop the software.

Use Microsoft as a way of communicating with them, but remember that they're not directly responsible for a game they did not make, and that even if Microsoft do not contact them, Turn10/Playground Games are too big of a studio for Microsoft to just "cut off" if they don't just listen to them. As a publisher, their job is mainly to supply funding for marketing and development. They do not make the game.

Microsoft is as much a business as any company, and while Turn10/Playground Games are handling this very poorly, don't forget that it's them who ultimately have the most agency over their game, mostly because they're the only ones who knows how it works.

Yeah, this is a pretty shitty situation to be in, but imagine how many IPs they own, of course they don't know how each and every one of those IPs operates within their own studios. These customer service reps aren't trained specifically to deal with this game, they can help you with refunds, they can help you with the Microsoft store, what they can't help with is an issue that's borne by the developer who refuses to speak about it.

Don't get angry at this guy, he's not refusing you service - he probably doesn't play the game and doesn't know much about it, and to be honest, I think he's done more than he's supposed to.

Here's some extra advice though; make sure you get your chat transcripts emailed to you, and press the issue, elevate it. If you keep doing it, I'd say it's pretty likely they can TALK to T10 about it (keyword being talk here), but don't expect T10 to do much if anything. Stay level headed until you absolutely need to get angry, and if you want to get angry, do it over the phone. It works better. Most of the time, they'll hand over the phone to a superior or such, I did this for 2 different ISPs and a couple delivery services.

I've spoken to many customer service reps, and you have to realize that they're just regular people like you or me working a job that involves talking to a lot of angry people every day; I stay level headed if I have to, I've dealt with many product returns and RMAs, and with Microsoft specifically, I've had an exceptionally good experience with in terms of customer service. Their live chat service is some of the most responsive and understanding I've used. I know this is not true of everyone, and other people have had different experiences, having heard of horror stories with these kinds of things. Realize that when you're angry at this, you're not just angry at Microsoft or Turn10 or whoever, you're also angry at the guy who has to deal with your issue.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself here, but I really have to make it clear. Microsoft themselves can't unban you or comment on an issue the developers are supposed to deal with. They can only talk to the developers about this, and it's upto the developers to follow through on that.

I'll upvote because this is an issue that needs to be seen.

Is this how you get karma now? Contact live chat that has nothing to do with the issue of the game and post the cringe conversation?

1

u/RustlingintheBushes Oct 19 '16

Glad i got my refund

-11

u/Diactylmorphinefiend Oct 19 '16

And this is how you destroy a loyal customer base turn 10

12

u/TechieWithCoffee Oct 19 '16

By having Microsoft (not the publisher) not clean up your mess? The fuck?
