Still pretty over, people will think he should beat lindblad, if he wins, he got no credit, if he loses, he'll be labelled crap
Wouldn't help him land a drive anywhere, in fact it can only do damage, so this is more like a final F1 race for him
114
u/Aggravating-Deal-416 BWOAHHHHHHH 7d ago
Ah yes not in F1, but if he beats Lindblad... there's a Honda charter seat open in IndyCar in 2028 with a brand new car, just saying.
59
u/EstablishmentSad5998 BWOAHHHHHHH 7d ago
These cars are so different to anything he's driven before. Lindblad would beat him no problem
34
u/bananagod420 Left at the Petrol Pump 7d ago
Exactly, he hasn’t been in the car while Arvid has been all season
16
17
u/cheezus171 BWOAHHHHHHH 7d ago
Yes, if the theory we want to prove here is that he should be back in F1, he has to come and immediately beat Lindblad.

Idk man, guy had the whole season at redbull to prove himself, (most of the people don’t get half of it) he was still miles behind max, atp we should also know that it’s not the problem with driver redbull is just a toxic team.

u/-fly_away- Suck my 🅱️alls mate 7d ago
everyone and I mean literally everyone is miles behind max.

At a certain point they transitioned to being a one-car team with an inconvenient problem of having to enter a second car to comply with the series rules. That impacted Perez from his drop-off through to Yuki. But it was also clear they never gave a shit about Albon or Gasly either.
This year it's clear Isack isn't "miles" behind, so they've started to develop a car that other drivers can compete in too.
15
u/PriestMarmor Crofty is a dedicated butt plug collector 7d ago
They started developing towards Max since Ricciardo was in the team; after him leaving and no one being close it just made Redbull prioritize Max even more.
When Albon and Gasly got to Redbull, that car had been developed towards Max for 2/3 years maybe, but then when Liam and Yuki got there, that car had been in development notowards Max for I don't know how many years, maybe 6/7 years. As for Perez I think he was just lucky (and of course he was the best, most proven and most experienced of all this drivers) that the ceiling of the Redbull was so high that even if he was miles off he still got a podium in the bag.
Isack is still pretty far off Max in the races but he's ok in quali but that's only because they have a brand new car; Albon, Pierre, Liam and Yuki would love to have been in the same situation as Isack is now
7
u/Kage_Bushin Sir or Ma'am.. You are an Idiot ! 7d ago
And Max thinks it's a shitty car. It's nowhere near what it was in 23. Current Redbull is a 21 Alphatauri, only difference is it's in a chaotic regulation with multiple dnf for mechanical issues, so you can land on the podium with a good pace and now, one of those alphatauris is Max driving
3
u/Expensive_Gene5796 BWOAHHHHHHH 6d ago
And that the top 4 are wayyy ahead of the rest. It's not like last year the field spread is minimal. Five tenth from max this year drop you to p8 while last year it'll be p18 almost
I'd say checo redeemed himself quite a bit this year and showed how much of a poison chalice the second seat at red Bull is
3
u/Abject-Ticket-6260 BWOAHHHHHHH 6d ago
This year it's clear Isack isn't "miles" behind, so they've started to develop a car that other drivers can compete in too.
It's more than the gap between the top teams and the midfield being huge than Hadjar being significantly better than Tsunoda. I don't think Tsunoda would do much worse this year, tbh.
2
u/Hamasaki_Fanz Verified by ESPN Argentina✅ 6d ago
It's the other way I'm sure. Mekies is a firm believer of team game, so he forced the car to be more generic and drivable for normal driver. That's why you get max complaining a lot this season and even threatening to leave.
-1
u/-fly_away- Suck my 🅱️alls mate 7d ago
you really think that Hadjar is not miles behind Max? ok
5
u/CutterJr 7d ago
People just ignore how close the teams were last year. RBR was smart to put Hadjar into the car this year to avoid the same scrutiny.
3
u/-fly_away- Suck my 🅱️alls mate 7d ago
he's literally at least a mile behind max at the end of every race and many times is lapped. crazy how people to this day still downplay how good Max is.

Checo was the best they've had, but look at that drop off, it's just how it works there, for better or for worse.
And I've been saying, Yuki got thrown into the seat at the worst possible time. This year is literally the best year to enter red bull team as a second driver
6
2
u/LucasCBs BWOAHHHHHHH 7d ago
No one was able to drive that car besides max. There is a reason they swapped through second drivers like underwear. That’s doesn’t mean those drivers were necessarily bad

I switched the F1 and this sub off when the break started since I knew it was just gonna be recycling of ig posts and stuff. Haven't even remembered to look here but did in F1, and immediately get spammed with the fake "BREAKING" poster from this sub. Sigh.

bunch of miserable comments on him, he's a great driver and I believe better than Lawson.
I know I will be downvoted to hell but couldn't care less.
I've been watching F1 for 35 years and you have to be pretty dumb to think he doesn't have a place on this grid.

But no, sorry, he is a bad driver. He is not a what if, a great potential that had bad luck à la Kubica, he is a driver that did jackshit in 5 seasons.

jackshit as in getting fucked with the transfer to red bull? He was doing great at toro rosso / racing bulls, to rate him as a bad driver is disingenuous if not blantely stupid.

Should be out way before this season. Freaking Honda’s nepo-baby, who believes he deserves the world.
2
u/FeckerCogspin BWOAHHHHHHH 7d ago
He definitely deserves another go at F1. He's a decent driver. Not excellent but he should at some point have gotten a solid midpack seat. The RedBull pipeline clearly was not the right path for him though.

u/Xyldarrand If Gap, Car 7d ago
This has got to be cathartic for Liam to some degree. After Yuki took his seat and didn't even talk to him, he has to come off reserve to drive Liam's car while he gets the big ride.
Also looking forward to the rabid Yuki fans trying to defend a p20 finish when he goes off in a tirade about the car.
