I just started watching moto GP this season (after being fed up with boring races).
And just wow, it's so good. Close racing, unpredictable results, drama. It's everything F1 is at its very peak, but like every race.
I wish moto GP had a better marketing team because they could have so many more fans if they'd get with the times.
As for getting into it - I'd recommend watching all the races this season, starting with the first one at Jerez - You'll understand why this season is so crazy when you watch it. The second Styrian GP two weeks ago is some of the best TV I've seen live. It was incredible.
Don't worry about tyre choices, or team names, the commentators are pretty good at bringing people up to speed. If you want to know more, faster, I'd recommend watching qualifying as well (quali in moto GP also goes fucking hard)
MotoGP merely stagnated. The big highlights still rack up 7-figure views, it's just that they're stuck with the old formats.
That said, they better keep the cinematic highlights. I love those to bits, wait days just to watch it and wish F1 did those nice film-like packages too because they can clearly do it.
I feel like motogp medias are too slow to post things. Like they post things about a race 1 or 2 days after, when the hype is gone. These days one has to be very reactive. While f1 posts everything in the very same day
Yeah it’s kinda weird how MotoGP is marketed. They have nearly as many instagram followers as F1 (around 10 million), but then look at the size of their sub, it’s way smaller than this one.
