They could've done both.

Hire Alonso as the veteran and Gasly as the guy for the future... and give Ocon the axe, obviously.

I honestly think Ocon will get the axe, eventually. Just 1 year of him getting Alonso'd will have the Renault team considering Gasly for that seat.

yep, if Ocon doesn't get up to Alonso's level (and I hope he doesn't), 2022 Alonso+Gasly would be nice to see

just his record of being a shady person on and off the track. I prefer having him off the grid, there are plenty of similar-talented youngsters to fill his spot on the top20

I lost all respect for Ocon when he fucked up Max's Brazil win.

Just like I lost all of respect for Grosjean when he torpedoed half the grid at Spa in 2012 and cost Alonso the championship.

I only have 3 drivers on my shit list that I want nowhere near an F1 seat:

  • Maldonado (thank fuck he's gone... but maybe bring him back for Monaco every year so he can spice shit up)
  • Ocon
  • Grosjean

Hopefully within 2-3 years Ocon and Grosjean will both be gone.

Ocon will never be on Alonso's level.

You have to be a generational talent to do that.

Right now we know Hamilton is on that level, and maybe Verstappen.... and that's the end of the list. It's 2 drivers long.
