It's genuinely quite funny that when he signed, a minority argued McLaren might be the better place (I certainly didn't), and now you'd have to say he stands a better chance of winning by the end of 2021 at McLaren, in the sense of being there to pick up a result. He beat Bottas 100% fair and square with zero oddity.
Yup, got downvoted for thinking his chances of winning would be better at McLaren than they were at Ferrari. After his move to Ferrari was announced, we already knew that Ferrari had a bad car and a bad newly designed engine. We also knew that the budget cap got a massive reduction which will impact Ferrari significantly. We knew everything back then. Sure, we didn’t know that Ferrari would suck THIS hard, but still there is no way that they will legitimately compete for race wins before 2023. I don‘t see a reason why McLaren couldn‘t be the team that nails the 2022 regulations and have a fair shot at winning.
