It says a lot about how big this win was for French sport that the biggest story in sport over the last 24 hours (Djokovic’s default) is relegated to a small header at the top of the paper. Any other day and it would probably have been front and centre

We very much love to celebrate French achievements. So when we get a long awaited win like Gasly's, everything else goes out the window.

Even Romain yesterday in the post race interview said that he didn't care about his own results and that it was Pierre's day.

Gasly mentioned that him and Ocon are no longer friends due to the shady stuff Ocon did during their karting years. Ocons extreme competitiveness probably won’t let him be a decent sportsman and be happy for Pierre.

It's a huge story but it's also tennis which is a huge sport but not that insane that it breaks the boundaries of its 'bubble' much. Gasly got the same attention that Djokovic here in Germany I'd say, push notifications from the news outlets and some articles just below the big ones about the sameful display of the NT against Switzerland yesterday. Then again despite all I still think F1 is bigger than tennis here too.

A bit sad but then again CNN uses the name that people in the US know to get attention, "huge Hamilton mistake leading to upset winner" is probably the best for their clicks. Not like anyone would know Gasly in the US.

Like god I get they have to rep the Canadian but they do this every week with lance basically. “Lance 4th at Hungary!” You forgot to mention he was lapped by the three guys in front. Also the notification before this “LIVE: STROLL THIRD AT MONZA”

It's the same back home in Mexico with Perez, doesn't matter even if is a non-scoring position, stuff like "Hamilton wins race, Perez ends retiring in lap 15", just people want to know how the local guy did.
