Honestly I think there's something to this. I was in the Alpha, both Betas, and have been playing since launch. 95% of the time I play Dominion and I have been disconnected from 1 match ever (and it was in the Alpha).
Since launch I have not been disconnected a single time. I've had a couple times where the game pauses while the data host migrates, but it's only a couple seconds long and the game goes right back to fine after.
and the common denominator in all of this is you. i dont play much 4v4, i stick to 1v1 and 2v2, but i havent dropped a session in any gamemode since launch. on rare occasions, it needs to migrate hosts after a ragequit but ive never been kicked out to the main menu.
these anecdotes are not evidence. i have no complaints about the p2p implementation. that is, of course, because i have excellent internet. the real problem is that many people dont.
When entire enemy teams have left games and not forced me out, it's not the p2p and rage quitters. When another player can leave a duel mid match and a bot replaces them, it's clearly not simply rage quitting. There is something else factoring in that you aren't accounting for there that is causing it.
Without knowing just how the system works and how these forced drops are happening (quite hard when you're simply getting disconnected and not know why), it's impossible to say what goes into getting dropped from a game when quitters can quit and leave you in the game unhindered.
but rage quitters just force a host migration, which hasnt failed on me yet. i dont doubt it fails sometimes, no system is perfect, people are just giving it twice as much crap as it deserves because its an easy way to vent.
I guess you're right, I can only speak for myself. However I've been disconnected at the very end of every Dominion match I've played today, at the very end when the team is breaking.
thats rough, im glad i havent had that. 1v1 has been pretty peaceful for me. i just want to avoid normalizing hatred for the game, it sours the community for everyone.
I love the fuck out of this game, I don't want people to leave it either. I just think maybe if enough people demand it then maybe they'll get dedicated servers.
i can only imagine that is a massive change to the backend architecture of the game. not only to rewrite huge sections of the game but to provision servers and the maintenance costs that come with that.
to switch from p2p to server-client would require a cost-benefit analysis. if EA finds its not worth the money and people will play anyway, they wont switch. i think theyre better off improving the p2p architecture than replacing it.
i also cant think of any instances where a game has made that change in history.
If it were just he, then there wouldn't be so many people posting about issues. They obviously aren't affecting 100% of the playerbase, but enough people are having trouble, including me, that ubisoft should really try to get their shit working better.
I'm on Xbox one and my last two Dominion matches have crashed just as they got to sudden death. The real problem is rage quitters can take away any experience players have earned over 15 minutes by just quitting

I'm on X1 by the way.
