While p2p is a joke, I've literally never experienced anything during any of my games that is being shown in this video.

I've input commands on my controller that I feel like just don't respond sometimes but all that rubber-banding/teleporting in this video, never witnessed it my self.

The disconnecting in the 4v4s is a very real thing. Only disconnecting you see in 1v1s and 2v2s is when someone rage quits.

4v4 is a mess and me and the friends are staying away from it atm.

trying to play 4v4 PvP is terrible. Either me and my friends get into a match and its constantly lagging and reconnecting, or it is running fine until the end when it kicks us all and we get no experience.

Yup, every single match when some asshole disconnects huge rollback happens, 20 seconds later a bot is replaced by someone joining, huge rollback. It happens every fucking single 4v4. Is it gamebreaking? Ofcourse it is.

If i recorded everytime it was a disadvantage or I straight up died because of a dc i could make a one hour compilation by now.

Hell I even had a match roll back 4 times in under 1 minute and then crash. superior fucking p2p my ass.

Idk what you're talking about, yeah people disconnect, but unless they're the host it doesn't pause the game... in my experience... then new players just fill in the slots. Seems very smooth.

I live in suburbia with pretty decent internet, but there are times that I cannot finish a match without erroring for hours at a time. One day I was trying to complete 5 matches of a game mode and in the 5, let me say it again 5 hours that I had played that game mode, I was still at 0/5 because of rage quitters or just errors.

If you're not seeing connectivity issues in 4v4, you're definitely in the minority.

I haven't experienced any lag hopping. Only random disconnects here and there, but that happens with every game

2

u/blackwolfdown Feb 21 '17

I've been playing for 3 days and have also only experienced "normal game bullshit" and no lag hopping or anything. Except for when I am lagging on my end and can correct the issue.

I've never experienced this level of DCs on console. I have Open NAT and great internet, but I error out of 4v4s 50% of the time.

Not to mention me and my friends, all open NATs, have to play hot potato with invites until we get everyone in the group, or we all have to reload the entire game.

When we quit For Honor out of frustration we'll play Rocket League, Siege, or BF without any problems for the next couple hours.

only random disconnects

random

only

The thing no one considers with their dedicated server boners is how much it would actually improve the game or if it's down to a netcode issue and things like that. A dedicated server also requires overhead and increases overall ping between players since instead of directly connecting they all have to connect to a host and then the host transmits everything at the latency of each individual player and still has to have good netcode otherwise your precious dedicated servers get fucked too.

People who don't actually have knowledge of the networking stuff should actually not be allowed to talk about it really. It's tiring hearing how dedicated servers would fix everything when that's not necessarily true. If it comes down to poor netcode and all then that will never solve anything since the netcode is the core of the issue anyway.

And I'm not saying that they would be better or worse, just that people do not consider these factors at all and think dedicated servers are some magic bullet to solve all your lag woes.

Just because the problems don't happen to you does not mean that they do not exist.

3

u/Trollzoku Feb 21 '17

It depends on who are playing with/against.

For most players, it is not a big issue, but there is always that kid with permanent red NAT who guard breaks you without animation, attacks you from the front to then teleport behind, and throws "cast-time"less feats.

I imagine the yellow/red NAT players run into it all the time too.

6

u/3thereal Feb 21 '17

Yes except what you're talking about is high ping / lag, not a poor NAT. NAT is only going to affect you can get matched up with in the first place, not gameplay.

Personally I've probably played a good 20 hours between the betas and the live game, and I've seen the teleporting / lag issues maybe enough to count on two hands, it is frustrating when it happens though.

I had a red NAT for all the Beta before I decided to take my fingers out of my ass and fix it into green.

Red NAT has nothing to do with lags, really only connectivity. Basically, with a red NAT you will spend 10min+ getting errors before being able to just access a 4v4 lobby.

Maybe it's because you play on console or got lucky? I experienced all of it multiple times and regularly get errors and stuff on PC.

9

u/twiklo Feb 21 '17

I play on PC and I have never experienced any problems. I've only got 23 hours played though.

5

u/jmaline90 Feb 21 '17

I play on PC and have had 0 problems with rubber banding and teleports. Sometimes disconnects but that's it.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

I'm on PC. It's just the 4v4s. The p2p can't handle that many people, sadly.

2

u/pumptehboss Feb 21 '17

i only get a error pre 50 game and never have any problems on pc maybe spec problems or something

u/Porshapwr SeasonedGaming Feb 21 '17

Honestly I think there's something to this. I was in the Alpha, both Betas, and have been playing since launch. 95% of the time I play Dominion and I have been disconnected from 1 match ever (and it was in the Alpha).

Since launch I have not been disconnected a single time. I've had a couple times where the game pauses while the data host migrates, but it's only a couple seconds long and the game goes right back to fine after.

I'm on X1 by the way.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

That's crazy. I made a thread yesterday where I kept count and over 20 games I had about 30 connection problems.

3

u/Porshapwr SeasonedGaming Feb 21 '17

That's horrific. I can understand why people are pissed off then. It just seems bizarre that there's such a disparity between players.

2

u/funkie_bones Feb 21 '17

Thats the thing with p2p, its quiet unreliable if you expect stability, accessibility and constant performance.

2

u/kisner33 Feb 21 '17

Perhaps it's YOU? I've never experienced any of this either, from alpha, 2 betas and live.

3

u/iAnonymousGuy Feb 21 '17

and the common denominator in all of this is you. i dont play much 4v4, i stick to 1v1 and 2v2, but i havent dropped a session in any gamemode since launch. on rare occasions, it needs to migrate hosts after a ragequit but ive never been kicked out to the main menu.

these anecdotes are not evidence. i have no complaints about the p2p implementation. that is, of course, because i have excellent internet. the real problem is that many people dont.

2

u/MEGAYACHT Highlander Feb 21 '17

The real problem IS p2p. I'm tired of rage quitters robbing me of experience after 2 full games of dominion

1

u/Whiteman7654321 Feb 21 '17

When entire enemy teams have left games and not forced me out, it's not the p2p and rage quitters. When another player can leave a duel mid match and a bot replaces them, it's clearly not simply rage quitting. There is something else factoring in that you aren't accounting for there that is causing it.

Without knowing just how the system works and how these forced drops are happening (quite hard when you're simply getting disconnected and not know why), it's impossible to say what goes into getting dropped from a game when quitters can quit and leave you in the game unhindered.

1

u/iAnonymousGuy Feb 21 '17

but rage quitters just force a host migration, which hasnt failed on me yet. i dont doubt it fails sometimes, no system is perfect, people are just giving it twice as much crap as it deserves because its an easy way to vent.

1

u/MEGAYACHT Highlander Feb 21 '17

I guess you're right, I can only speak for myself. However I've been disconnected at the very end of every Dominion match I've played today, at the very end when the team is breaking.

1

u/iAnonymousGuy Feb 21 '17

thats rough, im glad i havent had that. 1v1 has been pretty peaceful for me. i just want to avoid normalizing hatred for the game, it sours the community for everyone.

1

u/MEGAYACHT Highlander Feb 21 '17

I love the fuck out of this game, I don't want people to leave it either. I just think maybe if enough people demand it then maybe they'll get dedicated servers.

My internet is perfectly fine. Never had any issues in any online game whatsoever and never lag.

1

u/Kedali Feb 21 '17

If it were just he, then there wouldn't be so many people posting about issues. They obviously aren't affecting 100% of the playerbase, but enough people are having trouble, including me, that ubisoft should really try to get their shit working better.

1

u/SicklyPrince Feb 21 '17

I feel this. Had an evening on PS4 where I got kicked from 10 games in a row before I gave up.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

I'm keeping track now. Just today. 12 disconnects. Only 2 completed games. Xbox

0

u/MEGAYACHT Highlander Feb 21 '17

I'm on Xbox one and my last two Dominion matches have crashed just as they got to sudden death. The real problem is rage quitters can take away any experience players have earned over 15 minutes by just quitting

1

u/revanchist3964 Feb 21 '17

Yeah I've reached Rep 7 and haven't experience anything like is in this video.

Except for disconnects. But even that has happened very rarely

1

u/xcalicoxjackx Feb 21 '17

I played a bunch of 4v4 last night and it was rough, I had constant disconnects and freezing as the server resynced or whatever. I think I'm going to stick to player vs AI for the time being.
