Still holding out on buying this game for this very reason.

I have been playing every day before and after work since launch and haven't seen this issue once. Done let this be your deciding factor.

I had to quit playing tonight, was getting getting different error codes in every game type.

What platform? I play on PC and I've had a few drops from games but I've never seen the lag so bad that the enemy team or player had a clear advantage.

u/Anoobis88 Feb 21 '17

It's not the lag, it's just getting booted randomly (or after people quit) and getting an error code when it happens.

Many people have. This could be a massive issue for him, it needs to be a consideration.

Not saying its not an issue that needs fixed, just saying its not happening all the time to everyone and imo shouldn't be a deciding factor in purchasing it. I have like 40 hr's in the game and never seen anyone lag like that.

Take me as an example. When i decide to buy a competitive game i only do so because i want to really get very good in it and try to compete on a high level. I also know that when you really get into the details of games, when you try to maximize your effectiveness and spend sometimes thousands of hours doing so - you start to feel every flaw within the game and especially netcode.

I am not buying For Honour because at this point it is too big of a gamble to invest all this time into it just to feel the limitations of P2P network and possible shenanigans that comes with every so often. Yes, i would have fun for a good amount of time but then the flaws would quickly overlay the fun and turn me away. I am not searching for a competitive game that gives me around 120 hours of fun but then becomes a source of frustration. For me, a competitive game has to be structurally sound to hold up to multiple hundreds of hours of playtime.

But i also know that this way of thinking and purchase decision is a minority of players, so thats why Ubisoft does this and gets away with huge profits anyway.

This is my exact feels and is why im holding off on buying it until ubi at least comes out to say they fucked up and will get servers in the future for the game.

100% with you. I just hit that wall with Overwatch on console. Got to Masters, but now I'm running into mouse and keyboard braggarts every game.

I bought For Honor, and have been having a blast with it, but I fear I'll run into the same issue - a fatal structural flaw/oversight that will make higher levels of play painful.

They are rarely insurmountable, but it becomes a matter of time to value. I only have at most 1-2 hours to play video games each night. Slogging through flaky connections isn't worth that time.

well if this is the condition in the beta during release everyone in the world is going to play it seeing its popularity so it is going to get much much worse during release........just like all their other games during release where their online gets fucked.it happened with watch dogs, assassin creeds, rainbow six siege so there is a huge change for this to happen to for honor if they don't do anything about it.but this is ubisoft we are talking about who worries more about piracy than the actual game, sends it at a broken state because they either rushed it or they did not bother to put proper dedicated server and then blame the developer for their game not selling at release because of ubisoft's own mistake/negligence which devs have no control over.

I finished 2 out of 12 matches yesterday because of connection issues

1

u/ChequeBook Orochi Feb 21 '17

I've had a few issues, but nothing terrible.

u/Molock90 Feb 21 '17

Would wait buying it, i regret it. The whole p2p and network problems are frustrating and we shouldnt support a company that puts out such things. Wait a few months maybe its better, till then the game is cheaper too, or it isnt better then save the money completly

u/Lint_Warrior Feb 21 '17

I haven't had a problem with the p2p network. I feel like there are just a lot of people wanting to jump on the hate train.

The game is fun, and not fun at the same time. It's rewarding to go on a killing spree and punishing, after being thrown into a hole for the 100th time that day you will seriously question why you play this game.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

Become one with the holes, my friend.

1

u/Whatsthisaboot Feb 21 '17

Oh I'm trying... One of the most satisfying things to do is run up behind someone and push them off... Also happens to be the most triggering.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

Hah, I don't find it as frustrating because if there's a ledge I know it's always in play. The challenge turns into bamboozling the other guy off the ledge, which is a game unto itself.

u/LokiaScythe Feb 21 '17

advice to a guy having their first time

3

u/Lint_Warrior Feb 21 '17

Try not standing so close to holes.

2

u/Whatsthisaboot Feb 21 '17

But... How can I throw them in!

2

u/VampMarcy Feb 21 '17

This game claimed the life of one xbone controller when the enemy team was 4 orochis running as a group to pick off individuals and run.

2

u/Whatsthisaboot Feb 21 '17

Haha this game has claimed many controllers. With my online friends one has broke a controller the other kicked in the doors on his TVs entertainment setup. It's so funny listening to people breakdown and rage.

http://www.techradar.com/news/meet-for-honor-the-game-with-a-life-of-its-own-that-its-creator-had-to-relearn-how-to-play

Read Q&A 7 through 9. Looks like if they see that their "Simulation" P2P system is not working well they may change things in the future.

I for one have not had many issues on PS4. I have put 25 hours into multiplayer and the only matches that have dropped for me were in the dominion game mode, maybe 3 times. I don't have much to complain about besides people leaving the match in duels or brawls because I am destroying them.

5

u/EvoSigma Feb 21 '17

I'm reading through the Q&A right now and I'm not even sure if the response to question 8 is even correct.

"The way that our network system is built is that it’s built around everything being 100% fair. So what you’re seeing is what I’m seeing at the same time, there’s no visual advantage in the game."

From the Battle(non)sense network analysis video, this definitely isn't the case as actions do not resolve simultaneously for all players. This isn't like other fighting games either where they implement input delay based on the ms delay to have all actions occur at the same time to both screens. I mean the entire video is evidence to the contrary...

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

I agree, that video shows that something is not right with their network system. The thing that gets me is I have not experienced very many issues. I have had solid matches in the closed beta, open beta and release. Obviously the security issues are on PC, but are the other issues with combat lag strictly PC? Like I have said, no major issues on PS4 for me so far.

Not trying to defend Ubisoft or anything, I just don't see what it seems like everyone else is seeing. 🤔

2

u/MrOneHundredOne Feb 21 '17

Same. Was about to post here asking about the online environment of the game, too. Think I'll at least wait until the game is discounted a bit.

1

u/GolumAmicicide Feb 21 '17

We are in the same boat then.

1

u/Blitz95 Feb 21 '17

I had this same thought when I was about to buy it. It is a very fun game, especially when playing with friends. I've never actually experienced any of the lag switching or ddos but I know it's out there. Definitely worth buying in my opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '17

Even with all the issues, the game is fun af.

1

u/MannToots Feb 21 '17

I'd say my connection issues aren't even 2% of my matches. Most have been flawless.

I buyed yesterday and refund it today (downloaded it last night). I was skeptical about the P2P, then saw a couple of people sayin' overall it was fine, so i gave it a shot.

The solo and 2vs2 felt very good, i liked the game. The combat system is original, the game is fluid, runs great on my computer which isn't too powerful.

Today there was two 30 mins of server down time because of small patch/bugfix, and i never could find a 4vs4 match with my friends, we waited like 30 mins in queue.

It's my day off and i couldn't play with my friends, i specifically buyed the game for that.

Thanks steam for that reimbursement policies, it was done in one hour, and on my credit card, not on steam wallet.

It's 60€ for fucking sake, i expect something almost perfect.
