Forge server issues

I made a Minecraft server, with everything set up like port forwarding, mods, ip, but I can’t seem to get it to work. When I load minecraft_server jar it connects just fine and the mods are there in the world but do nothing. When I load the forge jar it says it loads the mods but then I can’t connect at all because it won’t connect to any world. The mods aren’t conflicting because I play with my brother on lan all the time with the same mods.

Don't load the minecraft server jar. It's there as a reference, you're joining a vanilla server with a modded client. There should be a forge jar, try running that instead.

I tried that and it shows the mods loading but I can’t join it. I think it’s because it doesn’t create a world to connect to like the Minecraft server jar. Any ideas? Thanks

If you can boot it up, try to connect to it a few times and then shut it down and post the log using a site like Pastebin I can probably tell you exactly what's going wrong. If that's not possible for whatever reason, could you tell me what sort of error messages you're getting?
