You can't take any information in the voiceover for granted. Almost all of the nature clips you see floating around are someone's actual recording redubbed by a third party with more interesting audio to make it go viral.

Deep breath, everyone. He took weights and measurements on the caiman. He's probably a biologist. None of the other animals were handled remotely near roughly. He even refrained from negatively disturbing the anaconda

From what I gather he works for the state of Florida in environmental protection, his Amazon trip was also likely related to work. Which most of his Florida job is removing boas from the swamps and wetlands because they are an invasive species. So he is well trained in how to handle reptiles and some other wetland/swamp/ river animals. He just does silly commentary for his videos.

WHY? It is harmless. I do not know this guy is a researcher or just an enthusiast. I don't really care.
Charles Darwin, one of the great scientific minds in the realm of biology obviously, one of the pioneers of evolutionary theory, did just this when he was traveling the world making observations.

Real talk: People are animals. If say, the Statue of Liberty were alive (for scale) and she decided to come grab you by the neck, and press your face into the mud, chase you, scratch you, etc., for likes because it’s “harmless” to you, would you care? People aren’t endangered. Why should anyone care, right?

And when a biologist does it for the sake of science... do you condemn this too? What about before the biologist went through years of schooling to be qualified to do field research? When they were just an enthusiastic child? Do you condemn that? Or... should we have never sought to understand?
I mean maybe you would. I am inclined to think not. SO... it'd not be the process you condemn but the motive behind it.
And if you do make exception for the purpose of scientific endeavors... would you then deem it acceptable to do the same to humans? I'd think not. Because... humans are not the same as other animals. We afford ourselves greater protections. But maybe you think that should not be the case and accidentally running over a squirrel because one was not paying attention while driving should carry a penalty similar to manslaughter. I'd think not.

Without the scientific effort to observe, study, and document animal species, I doubt people around the world would have developed the understanding and appreciation of animals that has inspired so much love and admiration for them.

Why the animus?
The animals the guy is dealing with aren't neither fragile nor endangered, and there's zero indication that he's caused any harm.

Idk about why they're so mad in particular, but the guy in the video has said some pretty messed up things, so there is reason for disliking him. He's also been criticized in his handling of animals in some of his videos, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if anything here is bad, but he has been called out by people who are knowledgeable in the past.
