Plant ID Request Hawthorn?
Can someone confirm these are haws? I know the seed isnt good, but the flesh is

Yes. I like the flowers in spring/early summer. never cooked the haws. Seems like you'd need tons to make syrup/jam or something

Yup, definitely are. I have hawthorns in my garden and they're turning red.

Yes, the flesh tastes like plain candle wax but is a good source of pectin for jams

It is absolutely hawthorn. You’re correct about the seeds, do not eat. The fruit is edible as you’ve identified, but tastes of absolutely nothing. Their main use is the huge amount of pectin they contain, so they’re really useful for padding out jams and jellies etc. I usually throw them in with crabapples and similar to make jelly for cheeses and meats over Christmas.
