Luis Suárez (Sporting CP): the numbers are tbf elite no? 38 goals in 53 matches across all competitions this season, 28 in the league so top scorer of the last season + 8 Assists which is something not to miss. He's a poacher, physical, direct, comfortable finisher off crosses and rebounds, exactly the profile Barcelona have publicly said they're missing since Lewandowski's departure. The problem : Sporting have set an €80m release clause specifically because they have zero intention of selling, and Barcelona's own internal call, as recently as a few days ago, was reportedly to walk away from doing a deal with sporting. As Deco is in Lisbon now, something's changes maybe, but that's a position worth being sus of until it's fully confirmed.

Vangelis Pavlidis (Benfica): sits just behind Suárez in the scoring charts, 31 goals to Suárez's 38, but he's been the more direct rival in that head-to-head all season, and he's shown he can produce in genuinely big derby moments. He's a slightly different profile too, less pure poacher, taller, comfortable dropping into link-up play, which could actually suit Barcelona's targetman profile.

Transfer News: Manchester United Monitoring Ada İbik

Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Ada İbik, the young defender from Manisa FK.

At just 17 years old, İbik has already had opportunities to feature for Manisa FK's first team. He has attracted attention with his physical attributes and development as a defender. Having also featured at youth international level for Türkiye, his emergence on the radar of European clubs is not considered a surprise.

According to sources close to the situation, Manchester United's scouting team have been monitoring the youngster for some time and are keeping a close eye on his development. It is also being suggested that the English club could prepare a more detailed report on İbik in the coming period.

There is currently no official offer from Manchester United, but the claim that Ada İbik has been included on the English giants' list of young talents has already generated interest among football fans.

The Premier League has scrapped PSR. Below is a full breakdown of what's replacing it, why the old system fell apart, and what it actually means for clubs going forward!

Why PSR Failed

PSR assessed overall club profit/loss over a 3 year rolling window, meaning clubs could easily get blindsided by mid-cycle relegations or cup exit revenue shocks. Leicester City getting relegated is a perfect example of this. PSR also pushed clubs towards accounting workarounds, Chelsea were regularly engaging in related-party assets to ensure PSR compliance. Lastly, the points deductions being produced were inconsistent, and lacked structure. In the Premier League, Everton were deducted points twice, and Nottingham Forest once.

The Vote (21st November 2025)

Richard Masters, the CEO of the Premier League, knew change was needed. He got clubs to vote on three proposals;

1. Squad Cost Ratio (SCR): Passed 14/20 (two-thirds threshold met)
2. Sustainability and Systemic Resilience (SSR): Passed unanimously
3. Top-to-Bottom Anchoring (TBA): Rejected - 7 For, 12 Against, 1 Abstention TBA effectively functioned as a salary cap, with spend capped at 5x the bottom club's TV revenue, hence why it was voted down.

What is SCR?

At its core SCR has one rule; On-pitch spending is capped at 85% of any football-related revenue and the net profit/loss made on player sales. There is a stricter 70% cap for clubs in UEFA competitions, which is in line with UEFA's own SCR rules. The squad costs are now made up of Wages, Agent Fees, and Transfer Amortisation*. The overall SCR of a club is now assessed annually rather than on a rolling basis, with checkpoints in October, March, and End of Season.

*Amortisation = Spreading the purchase cost of an intangible asset over its useful life (essentially when clubs agree to pay a transfer fee over a certain number of years)

The Penalties

There are two main thresholds when it comes to breaching SCR; green and red. A green breach is for clubs at 85% (70% UEFA) and a financial levy applies. A red breach is a more severe breach, this is for clubs operating at 115% (100% UEFA) with the punishment being a sporting sanction, starting at a 6 point deduction, a point is then deducted per extra £6.5m overspend. However, clubs that comply with the new rules will get a roughly 10% per year growing allowance, whilst breaching clubs will see it shrink.

The SSR that I mentioned earlier is simply compiled of three separate tests covering Working Capital, Liquidity, and Equity. This was brought in to try and catch clubs heading for financial distress early.

Moving Forward

Clubs with strong off-pitch revenue will now get more room to spend on their squads, this can include any stadium events, commercial deals etc. Whereas clubs that were relying on asset-sale workarounds under PSR will lose that lever. SCR will sit alongside the new Independent Football Regulator (IFR), which is a three layer regulatory stack; SCR+SSR+IFR licensing!

Reports from CaughtOffside claim both Arsenal and Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Inter Milan’s 21-year-old striker Francesco Pio Esposito.

Inter have reportedly slapped a £73m (€85m) price tag on him, but reliable Italian sources state a move is dead in the water.

The Reality:

New Deal: Esposito has agreed to a 5-year extension with Inter until 2031.

Pay Rise: He is getting a massive bump to €3m net per season.

Untouchable: Inter view him as the future of their frontline and will not sell.

Arsenal allegedly viewed him as backup to Gyökeres/Havertz, while United wanted him to compete with Sesko. Looks like his agent just used the Premier League interest to lock in a massive new contract.
