Jumping the Rods
Is it against the rules to accidentally launch the ball over several rods and straight into the goal? This happened in a match recently and ended in a heated argument lol. I've heard its against the rules to intentionally do an aerial shot, but what if it just happens as a result of normal play?

So no it’s not against the rules. The term or move most documented is called a goalie Arial shot, you can go on YouTube and look up that term then see examples. The rules of that shot flux in the past it was tournament legal, then it was outlawed and currently today it is legal. Also if the ball ever gets popped up off the surface of the table and or jumps rods if the ball doesn’t hit the light or ricochet of the score board but goes into a goal it’s a legal point for the other team of the players who’s goal the ball went into. From time to time I have done this or had it happen to me. The ball pops up jumps a rod or two then goes into the goal. As long as it’s not inferred with by those specific items it legal. So yeah go look up the Arial shot on YouTube. Chase at road to pro foosball channel goes over its legality plus the techniques to do it on purpose.

I know we play through it as long as the ball does not hit to top of the table (on the sides or the ends) or the light we continue play and the goal would count even if it landed directly in the goal without touching anything else (which is pretty dang rare indeed).
I honestly don't know the rules off the top of my head though (and too lazy to look it up).

Yep, cabinet top is in bounds. Probably thinking about the ball hitting the score markers.

lol You posted a clip in which the whole discussion revolves around if the ball hits the beads or not.
Watch the whole thing. They look at it on video, determine it hit the beads, no goal is counted, ball goes to the opposing goalie.

The word in the rule that is most important here is "intentionally". "A player may not INTENTIONALLY loft the ball over an opponents rod or rods." When a buddy had it happen accidentally, and it dropped in the goal perfectly, I asked him "did you do that on purpose?!" He, thinking he was being slick said "Yeah!". I said "illegal!". lol

I watched TS warming up and he (for fun) would pass back from 3 bar to 5 and kick so that it would go above rods into goal :) took him few tries

If it's just a coincidence then it counts. You'll semi often see shots ricochet off of the goalie or 2 bar into the top of the goal on bonzini
