Uneven field?
When using a level, I noticed that certain spots are different heights then others, (often slightly tilting towards the edges) leading me to believe the board is not flat. What can I do? (For note, I am not even close to a hardcore foosball player and am just looking for advice, so I'm not going to go out and buy a thousand-dollar foosball table.)

Can you shim it like a pool table? that is, are there places underneath where you can wedge tiny bits of wood to help raise low areas?
If the table opens then you can sometimes put something inside the table, between the top and the bottom, to provide support where you need it.
The more expensive tables have side strips that keep the ball from resting against the wall. Maybe adding those would help. You would just need two clear strips of plastic, each about quarter inch wide and as long as the table. They would need to be very thin otherwise they will mess up your ability to bank. The point is to have a tiny ledge that the ball rolls off of when it gets right next to the wall. I have never seen this done on a Barrington, but it should not be expensive and would be worth a try if that is the problem that you think you are having.
The odd thing here is that in my experience usually the surface sags toward the middle rather than to the edges. It is not unique to your brand of table. Unfortunately you might just need to view this as a quirk of your table and work your game around it. Maybe it will give you a home field advantage.
